I'm going to guess the hot mic is 4chan related. If you believe its real or that the virus is bullshit as a result; I am a former Nigerian General who needs to move 300 million dollars to the US, I just need an American bank account to move it into, can anyone help? Also for reasons I cannot explain, I also need your social security number.

Btw, be prepared for US numbers to be high today with the lag from the weekend finally coming in. Eventhough NY is reporting low numbers so far, which is good! They've been trending down for a while now.

We passed Italy in deaths 10 days ago, we'll probably double them by the weekend.

I think someone says fatality rate is 0.1%, that it isn't anything worth worrying about, mentions they've already been vaccinated. Not saying it's the truth or this is a smoking gun, just curious about your guys (fear monger bois) think of it.
I think the study was pushed out too early without peer review (which is happening at a high rate atm because it's a pandemic) and it's hard to say how accurate it is. But a possible IFR in Santa Clara being 0,1-0,3% wouldn't really be that shocking imo. I think it's way too premature to say if it's right. The vaccinated part would obviously be a joke or a mistake (if it's real). Are anyone seriously believing that random staff would have been vaccinated while this was kept under wraps?

Statistics already clearly show a 99.8 (99.9%) survival rate for ages 18-39. Cali just did mass testing and found the virus THREE times more prominent than thought, bringing survival rates closer to 99.9%...

Are you one of the guys who are also in the camp of: "The senators wouldn't REALLY dump their stocks after a private briefing on the Rona, would they? They wouldn't REALLY do insider trading right?" Just lmao. I'm sure everyone in charge of protecting the president wouldn't vaccinate his staff and him before the general public!

So this seems like something to take with a heavy dose of salt and not at all to cause a person with asthma to relax their being careful more than an average person, but looking at the data coming out of New York, it seems maybe Asthma isn't nearly as much a heavy hitter to cause Covid to become serious as previously thought. Or at least hopeful that may be the case when we can see some more data

https://covid19tracker.health.ny.gov/views/NYS-COVID19-Tracker/NYSDOHCOVID-19Tracker-Fatalities?:embed=yes&:toolbar=no&:tabs=n#/views/NYS-COVID19-Tracker/NYSDOHCOVID-19Tracker-Fatalities?%3Aembed=yes&%3Atoolbar=no

^Good breakdown of ages, and any pre-esisting conditions those who passed from Covid compilations had in New York. Asthma not a top 10 co-condition among fatalities (90% of fatalities had one or more of these 10 conditions), despite 1 in 13 americans having asthma.

Article excerpts-
Although preliminary studies and data seem to show that asthma is not among the greatest coronavirus risk factors, those with the respiratory condition should still take extra precautions to avoid contracting the illness. Asthma was not included in a list of the most common secondary health conditions among coronavirus patients of any age group, according to recent data released by the New York Department of Health, which includes information on over 12,000 coronavirus cases statewide. Hypertension and diabetes were the two most commonly seen health conditions, and the list also included coronary artery disease, dementia, cancer and stroke. Obesity has also been found to be one of the highest risk factors among severe cases.

Across the state, people who had asthma accounted for about 5 percent of coronavirus-related deaths, according to The New York Times.

A small observational study published earlier this month in the New England Journal of Medicine also stated that out of 24 critically ill patients in Seattle, only 3 people had asthma — and European researchers have also noted the “lower reported prevalence” of the respiratory condition, in another observational study published in Lancet.

However, while these initial statistics are “reassuring,” Dr. Purvi Parikh, an allergist with the Allergy & Asthma Network, urges against developing a “false sense of security.”

“I would take this data with a grain of salt as it is based on weeks rather than months or years of data like we have for other illnesses,” Parikh tells PEOPLE. “It is reassuring as we were concerned for all patients with chronic lung disease, but asthmatics should still be vigilant.”

As for why the statistics concerning asthma are so low, Parikh believes multiple factors could be at play.

“One reason for lower incidence could be stay at home orders that have kept asthmatics away from their triggers and possible exposure to COVID-19,” she said. “Also, asthmatics may be more vigilant in taking precautionary measures.”

“There may also be an underreporting as many asthmatics are currently staying home to recover and avoiding emergency rooms,” the doctor added, noting that even in a hospital setting “when patients come in to the hospital critically ill without family members, the hospital team may not realize it is an asthmatic and thus cases may be missed.”

Solid points by that Dr. Parikh why this shouldn't be a spike the football moment for those worried about loved ones with asthma, but it's still a good sign there for this subset group of people

Only 13 new cases in my state today and more than half of confirmed cases are recovered. Hopefully we are trending down with this shit up here. If it hadn't been for the shitty situation in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, our numbers wouldn't be too bad here.

Ottawa watching food supply chain 'very, very carefully' after Alberta outbreak

Meat prices could go up now that a massive processing plant in Alberta has temporarily shut itself down following a COVID-19 outbreak — but it's not likely to lead to a domestic shortage, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said today.

"We've heard from Canadian beef producers and associations that the priority will be ensuring Canadian supply before they move to exporting. Much of our beef is exported," he told reporters during his daily news briefing this morning.

To be fair, you're still a great deal lower per capita. We'll see at the end of it how it pans out.

Looking more and more like numbers today will be sky high. There is definitely a lag, so that has to be taken into consideration, but we're talking peak height I think. 1.700 so far without Massachusetts, NJ, Illinois and Connecticut reporting. Most likely go past 2.500 for the total today.

One thing is for sure, the downgraded 60k projection by August from IHME is an underestimate. I don't understand how their model works, it's like they are just plugging in data (hasn't been updated since april 17th though) without looking at real time trends.

thanks. Gave me a good laugh. Nice to have a little levity in these depressing, sobering threads every now and then.

Apples to oranges comparison. Senators dumping stock because of corona briefings are well documented and comports with reality. Random staffers having access to a vaccine that shouldn't be scientifically possible, for no reason, and blurping that out on a live mic while trying to pull the wool over the entire world, doesn't.

I just saw that part!

i do think the fatality rate must be higher than the flu, even when accounting for undetected cases.

i draw my conclusion from a few observations:

The diamond princess is a closed set, and it was .05 there

some countries like SK and Italy have tested massive sections of the population, and the mortality rate there is still higher than the flu

If it were lower than the flu, to account. For the numbers we see in the states, the virus would have needed to spread extremely rapidly in a short period of time

Still, I think it’s encouraging to see that the total cases of undetected are high and that as a result we know it’s less severe than imagined originally

To be fair, a cruise ship, especially one I believe caters to an older crowd is not a good example.

And have SK and Italy really tested that many people?

Why it's naive to send unemployed Canadians to work on labour-strapped farms
https://business.financialpost.com/...ed-canadians-to-work-on-labour-strapped-farms

Sending thousands of recently laid-off Canadians into the fields to fill vacant positions on farms seems like a good solution, but industry insiders warn that doing so would be a lot more complicated than it sounds.

Farming is an incredibly low-margin business, which needs fast, efficient workers to be able to turn a profit, said Evan Fraser, director of the Arrell Food Institute at the University of Guelph in Ontario.

“There’s a naiveté, among some urban Canadians, that we could simply take unemployed Canadians with no background in agriculture and whip them into an effective workforce for a farmer,” he said. “You could take a bunch of high-school kids that are about to graduate and are bored right now, and give them pruning shears and point them at an apple orchard … It would be a disaster for the farmer.”

The vaccine was obviously sarcasm. The revealing part is how they were talking about the mortality rate. 1 reporter seemed clueless on the testing going on.

Staff? These are reporters speaking. One is John Roberts

You're a real piece of shit if you cant even be bothered to visit your own family. Im not surprised though

What the hell is wrong with you? I'm not seeing my grandmother either, she is in her late 80's and there is no way I'm going to spread that shit to her. I talk to her on the phone every week. You are an absolute moron.

Reporters having access to a vaccine makes similarly no sense.

EDIT: Just saw you that didn't say otherwise.
