Could Yellowstone Park Volcano Go Sooner Then Anyone Planned?

No, but it's a better guess than what you said.

Q: How imminent is an eruption of the Yellowstone Volcano?
A: There is no evidence that a catastrophic eruption at Yellowstone National Park (YNP) is imminent. Current geologic activity at Yellowstone has remained relatively constant since earth scientists first started monitoring some 30 years ago. Though another caldera-forming eruption is theoretically possible, it is very unlikely to occur in the next thousand or even 10,000 years.
The most likely activity would be lava flows such as those that occurred after the last major eruption. Such a lava flow would ooze slowly over months and years, allowing plenty of time for park managers to evaluate the situation and protect people. No scientific evidence indicates such a lava flow will occur soon.

Yeah, that's bullshit. They have no idea, they just don't want business to drop off any time soon.

According to that map the Bay Area is safe
Im good
Fuck yall

HAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA

Don't know if joking but most of N America will be in trouble with years of fallout in many ways than one.

Edit: And by years I should've said a millenia or two.

Who knows when it will happen, but when it does the entire North American Continent is fucked.

The whole world is fucked. Billions would starve and freeze to death.

On the plus side, we should be guaranteed a White Christmas for a few years.:icon_twis

Thing is, the world's best experts don't know when it's going to blow. It could be tomorrow or a thousand years from now. So I'm not going to lose any sleep at the moment.

Or a hundred thousand and probably it will not blow at all but instead release its Lava in a steady flow like it has done on the majority of its outbreaks throughout history.

Indeed.

Also, lol at the conspiracy theorists who believe that surrounding towns are being, "secretly evacuated".

The other part of the equation is that Yellowstone is not the only super-volcano, the world has about a dozen of them. When one of them pops, and it will, chaos will ensue. I'm not even sure if some people in this thread know the difference between a regular volcano like Mt. Saint Helens and a super-volcano like Yellowstone.

Yellowstone = Mt. St. Helens X1000's. Its a possible extinction event if the entire 34X54 mile caldera unzips.

People are just egocentric enough to believe that they are living in the endtimes. Has always been true for every generation. Either that or the world will blow in "70 years".

What in the fuck does a super volcano have to do with the end times? You do know that this is not anything supernatural. Its a giant ass pit of magma that erupts every 600,000 years and fucks up a large area of the planet while blotting out the sun.

I believe there's at least one Super Volcano in Iceland, and the Icelandic volcanoes are more likely to erupt in the short term than Yellowstone.

No it erupts roughly every 600 000 years but most of these eruptions have not fucked anything more then the direct surroundings.

What ppl ignore is that not every eruption is explosive in nature. Many eruptions are a slow release of magma over years, tens of years or even centuries. The time a Volcano takes to release its excessive energy is as important as the pure amount of it.

I hope you are right because Yellowstone is a game changer. The so called "bread basket" of the United States, the mid-west, would be destroyed. The food production capabilities would be eradicated. This is only one aspect of a Yellowstone eruption. It literally will END America for a very long time. It would blot out the sun.

I understand the difference and I hope you are right. Just a quick question. What happens if you are wrong? How much damage would a full eruption cause to the world?

Aside from the fact that there is a very high chance that I will never get to answer this question - the end of the world as we know it would probably a good start. If it helps you however its statistically much more likely that you get killed by lightning then that you will witness the eruption (violent or not) of a super volcano.

It would destroy the world and the majority of humanity would die of starvation as the skies darkened and crops couldn't be grown for years. If it was a large eruption most of the US would be destroyed very quickly as the ash cloud covered almost all the lower 48 (other than Miami) burning people to death and blighting the land. Non-human species would be devastated as well, much as they are in every extinction event. It would suck ass.

R'hllor, come to us in our darkness. Lord of Light, we offer you these false gods, these seven who are one, & him the enemy. Take them & cast your light upon us, for the night is dark and full of terrors.

...

I haven't watched either video, but what's unusual about this picture? You realize there are always hot spots there belching steam, right?

It seems like you might be thinking that these suddenly happened, signaling a build-up of pressure leading to a catastrophe soon.

But that would be dumb.
