As we all know the state of New York was one of the final states to allow the UFC to promote events in the state. Much of it had to do with the Culinary Union and corrupt politicians. But also New York has had a long history of violence and criminal activity and has gone through great lengths to clean up its image and make it family friendly.

This incident makes the UFC look really bad, and it may strain the new relationship that the UFC has with the NYSAC. Do you guys think that this could hurt the UFC's ability to continue to have events in New York? If it does, that would be a major blow to the promotion because NY is one of, if not the biggest market in the US and it has taken the UFC a very longtime to be accepted there.

Thoughts?

Bump. What you guys think? I put too much effort in this thread, and want at least one reply.

Fuck no, athletes do shit like this all the time in other sports.

Yeah... Maybe if it had happened sooner, but they have already seen the kind of revenue it brings to the city, so I doubt it would happen now.

No.

This was two assholes that happen to be UFC fighters causing a huge fucking problem. But the UFC and mma are not responsible for what McGregor and Lobov did.

Not likely, but it's certainly an egg on the face moment for the people who pushed for MMA in NY.

They would probably love it behind close doors, more money, Vegas is taking the huge money fights all the time.

Having said that, Conor wasnt scheduled to fight, he was just another person doing crazy shit on the street, he wasnt there officially for the UFC, would they revoke his license? Not sure, but it will cost him more than a public apology.

NYSAC will probably fine him a load of money so I guess they'll be ok about it.
Nevada reduced his bottle throwing one to $25,000 fine and 25 hours of community service in the end so it has to be worth a lot more than that.

Depends on whether the UFC has the right people bought off.
