Could RDA eat Conor's shots like Nate did?

He had nothing on the ground when he was completely gassed out. Funny how he had something on the ground in round 1 when he was ok. He defended Diaz's sub attempt

Defending one sub attempt means nothing. And Diaz has horrible takedowns and top control but he is pretty slick on the ground. How many times have we seen Nate get someone on the ground only to be reversed? RDA's top control is light years ahead of Nates. Conor would have been worn out from defending 4-5 sub attempts instead of just one you goof.

LOL @ Conor fanboys trying to make excuses.

LOL indeed.

If it was RDA, it'd be a 1st round KO.

But out-of-shape Nate Diaz is Conor's kryptonite. If kids wanna believe this bedtime story, let them have it.

So Conor being a big puncher, if he lands he beats you. But if he doesnt, he is in trouble? Maybe he could land clean on RDA and put him away....or maybe RDa would have landed clean and put Conor away. But one thing is for sure. If Conor doesnt land that big clean punch, RDA would get him sooner or later

Nate has some decent take downs from the clinch and was not able to work them tonight. I get it short camp, and not as good as RDA but im curious to see Conors tdd when hes not rocked and tired. I do not think RDA has amazing takedowns though.

I understand your point, and I know RDA isn't this amazing wrestler. But in those positions no doubt he would have done much better than Diaz in working a takedown.

Here's another perspective, Conor now knows a fight with RDA cannot go to the ground by any means. This straight away changes his shot selection, distance, movement etc etc. It also probably means Conor can't pressure RDA because of the threat of the clinch/takedown (against Mendes he didn't care about that). This now plays into RDA's hand whereby he is the one who will bring pressure. The whole dynamic of this potential fight has now changed I believe (I picked RDA to beat Conor before the injury).

Conor has to worry about something (RDA's BJJ), which he probably never would have done before.

MMAth, right?

lol... fucking sherdoggers
Duhh you fucking nonce, guy talking about RDA's speed and power would give Conor problems. Aldo superior in that department and didnt give Conor any problem lol you and your fucking 19 likes haha

RDA kills Conor and i believed that before this fight.

I think so, styles make fights and I don't think RDA is nearly as durable as Diaz is.

I agree. Diaz is one of the most unfinishable top 5ers in the LW/WW divisions.

Also a few more thoughts. There is an inverse relationship between loss of power and energy expenditure with every degree you have to elevate your striking angle. And the differential is pretty significant. Conor won't have to be punching upward with RDA and hyperextending his punches. He will be able to square off and the physics of it will be much more ideal. Plus RDA is a more rigid target than Diaz. Only hope RDA has is ground and kicking game. I have been make a bold prediction that Conor beats RDA both vertically and horizontally. After tonight I am not quite as bullish on that but I still stick by it.
And even though this is not really the best time to throw this out there I will: Conor looked tonight perhaps more dangerous than he ever has and I guarantee you that there is no fighter at LW that was not made incredibly nervous by what this (till now) 145er was able to get away with on Diaz's face at 170. Sherdoggers won't take it much into consideration but potential Conor opponents definitely do.

Dana was flat out right when he said Conor looked outstanding tonight. It kind of reminded me of the Machida/Jones match-up. Difference here is Machida got old. Conor is not getting old yet. And if he is able to significantly improve his cardio and bjj then he will remain scary even at 170.

Defending a sub attempt means nothing? haha what a delusional twat. It means he has a ground game ya goof.

Conor fans keep saying this....so you think Aldo would steamroll cerone and Benson?
Cerrone and his glass body? Aldo's has sick body punches, Cerrone would crumble. RDA didnt steamroll Bendo, but yeh I would pick Aldo over him. Aldo was p4p #1 for a reason. Hi skill set is still deadly as ever.

I'm done with you.

I wanted Diaz to win tonight, I dont have anything against Conor and it has been cool to see the run he has been on but def not one of my favorites. Not saying he would have been Ko'd, just would like to see how other guys would have taken those shots. Conor looked really powerful even with Diaz eating his shots. RDA is obviously the champ for a reason and like i said he is the better mixed martial artist imo but I also thought the same about Aldo. No one is sitting here saying Conor would ktfo RDA, just having a discussion about different matchups. And yes the matchup is different. In a standup fight I do not think RDA is the outright favorite and RDA takedowns are not as impressive as everyone is acting. Conor got subbed when he was beaten down and gassed from the beating. I do not know that RDA could have took all those shots tonight.

That is the whole point: it's MMA. If TDs and ground were forbidden, Conor beats RDA. But the ground exists.

Not all Silva fights ended with front kicks to the head KOs. Not all Conor fights will end with KOs against forward-moving opponents. People need to realize this. Likewise, Diaz will not go on a submission spree in his path to the belt. You really see Diaz beating RDA? Does he stand a chance at WW?

I also want to see the match ups. What I don't want to see are kids dreaming of 1st round KOs just because they saw it once. RDA can be KOd by Conor, but JDS could also KO Cain on their second and third fights.

I think RDA would have done just fine. I am not hiding my predictions. I had Conor KOing Diaz. Had and still have RDA by stoppage on the third. Wouldn't be the least surprised if Conor KOs both.

The GOAT.....of weight loss.

Show me a fight where Jones got schooled like that.
The GOAT.....of weight loss.

Show me a fight where Jones got schooled like that.

Show me a fight where Jones fought a man his own size. Do not get me wrong, JJ is p4p theee best in my eyes but you have to admit, he is always the bigger guy, and one time he had the fight with similarly size guy (Gus) his face looked like mashed meat.

3 things for sure we know about McG after today,
he can take a punch but he cant take punishment,
no effective grappling at high level,
gas tank is reasonable but not good

honestly if RDA fought him today maybe Mcg could maybe get him earlier and finish the job,AFTER TODAY there's no way any accomplished MMA trainer(master cordeiro is one of those) will not work around Conor weaknesses.

This fight says nothing on what caould have happened against RDA.

Who cares about the stand up did you see how fast Conor tapped on the ground? Here look

LOL his ground game is very low. Is like you can do anything you please with Conor once he is on the ground if you know what I mean hahahah
