Could Merab completely overwhelm Volkanovski?

Truthfully I dont think Merab's skill attributes would carry over to a higher weight class. Its no knock against him.

His style I think would be less effective,and the added bulk might not serve him going 5 rounds either.

A lot of merab's game is in the clinch against the cage. Volkanovski just fought a huge LW and arguably looked stronger on the cage than islam did and often kept Islam's back against the cage.

I think volk would be too strong for merab to be honest. I also wouldn't be surprised to see volk land his own takedowns and get on top.

Merab beat an 3-0 improved Aldo at 135 while Yan had a close fight against 0-2 Aldo at the time for a paper belt

Aldo actually stopped Merab from taking him down while Yan got ragdolled and taken down many times by Merab

That was a "middle of the pack" type of performance Yan had against Merab

Should be sent to the early prelims for that crap performance in his next fight
