Weak argument. There's already plenty more to do than knees and look what happened.Yeah but boxing IS punches
Removing knees from MMA still leaves plenty to do

i was pointing out that in a sport without any knees, kicks or elbows at all, people have died in the ring. There isn't a punch or puncher in all of boxing that can inflict the type of damage a well timed knee like that can cause.
Time to discuss this I guess. They've made 12 to 6 elbows illegal because they're scared the power could crush a face. Well, we now have clear as day evidence that one of the legal strikes can actually obliterate the sinus/forehead.
I've defended MMA as safer than boxing for years, but I don't think we'll ever see a boxing injury like this. Personally, as drastic as it sounds, I think knees to the face need to be illegal now.
Thoughts?
Just a freak accident. Perfect timing as Santos ducked right into it. Knees will most likely go unchanged.
Knees are allowed but 12-6's aren't....No sense!
I think i have heard Rogan say many times that that rule is dumb and is based off Karate shows....thing with knees is that it isnt expected to someone to be able to hit a standing opponent with a knee with such force, but it isnt the first time a wrestler has been caught up with a knee shooting for a TD, Shinya Aoki did it once iirc, perfectly timed knee too, and many others.
