Could Karate Combat overtake the UFC in popularity?

No but it is pretty fun to watch and they seem to be creating their own household names. They are doing just fine.

I still don't know how is called karate since they allow clinching, knees, ground and pound, etc.

It has to beat K-1, Glory and ONE in that market first. Throw RIZIN in while we are at it.
Isnt K1 basically a local promotion in japan at this point?

One FC is going to implode without any external help lol.

I guess they could try to snatch some Glory fighters. Or bring some muay thai fighters to make it more interesting

Has Raymond Daniels fought in it yet? I’m shocked he never continued mma after his failed kickboxing stint. He was like Izzy. Great for mma, but nothing for the Dutch style

BKFC has already made inroads in combat sports so why not?

I see it naturally attracting casual MMA fans that want to see stand-up wars and grappling to be kept to a minimum.

If the UFC keeps putting out lousy PPVs and Apex cards, it will only drive up business for orgs like Karate Combat.

Zero chance.

Its in the same boat as BKFC, entertaining but too derivative of another sport that has a much higher talent level. It kind of takes away a lot of the appeal when you know that countless kickboxers, MT guys and MMA guys could stroll in there tomorrow and destroy everybody.

I wish the pit would replace the cage, much more dynamic for grappling/wrestling
100%

The pit is just an all-around more interesting combat arena than any other:
  • Discourages retreat in a big way.
  • Ramp fighting is WAY more interesting than wall fighting.
  • Doesn't really negatively affect strikers in any way relatively to the cage.
Make it happen, Dana.

Plus, if the Pit becomes the standard, we now have an avenue to run multi-discipline events.
  • MMA
  • Karate Combat
  • Submission Grappling.
