If I were Costa, there's no way I take that fight. He's ranked #5; why in the world would he accept an unranked opponent? Perhaps it would makes sense if it were the main event of a fight night (like Strickland's fight), but buried on a ppv card? No chance.

Maybe because they offered him contract with good money on a condition that he fights exciting and upcoming fighters like Khamzat, Ikram and etc. since he isn't good enough to be champ evere (as everyone knows) but exciting enough to build up some names .. That would seem logical. I think he is just goofing around here with the message but in reality the fight is really happening .

Paulo hasn't fought a ranked opponent since 2021 and beaten one since 2019. Dude has like 2 ranked wins in his entire career.
