Anyone have an affordable suggestion for eye protection? I have pretty good line on different 3M stuff through work.

Too lazy to buy n95

Think my military gas mask will do the trick

Only if the disposable filter is still good. If it's expired or you don't trust the old filter you can gut it (could be contaminated with who knows what) and fill it with furnace filters with a MERV 13 rating and an MPR greater than 1900. Cut out a perfect circle using the filter and use a non toxic glue to seal in as many layers as can fit in.

Well, I guess I'm packing up and moving to North Korea. Who could have predicted that little rocket man was the most sane among the world's leaders.

Well, it's not like every country has 80,000+ laborers working illegally in China in defiance of UN sanctions (with the quiet "Don't ask, Don't tell" approval from Beijing) when the epidemic broke out, who undoubtedly came stampeding back across the border because they have nowhere else to go.

Kim Jong Un knew that considering the state of medical tech advancements in North Korea, his ass is toasted if he let any of his own dying countrymen in, much less 80,000, so that Chinese border was sealed immediately by North Korean troops.

Personally, i think a good chunk of those 80,000+ North Korean workers already caught the virus and quietly ended up inside a Chinese incinerator a long time ago, and not counted anywhere in the official Chinese stats that the WHO is still holding up as the gold standard.

I touched on this back back in page 13, but may be some of the new-comers may have overlooked:

North Korea is sorta lucky that they're not developed enough to have densely-packed cities and public transportation, and most people still travel around on bicycles. If some North Korean villagers catch the virus in China after crossing the border for work, then it's unlikely that they can spread it beyond their village.

Fun fact: there are more than 80,000 North Korean laborers working in China. They were all supposed to go home by the end of 2019 as per UN sanction, but many undoubtedly stayed after Chinese police received order from Beijing to look away. It's unknown what happens to them now that North Korea was the first country to sealed their border, and China became a graveyard both metaphorically and figuratively.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if a big chunk of the North Korean workforce in China already quietly ended up as a big pile of ash behind those overworked crematoriums long ago, since Pyongyang isn't taking them back, Beijing already have more than enough sick Chinese to take care of, and their mere presense in China is in violation of the U.N.

As far as Kin Jong Un is concerned, that's a Win-Win.

No one knows what's going in North Korea right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of the workers manage to get back in before and after the border closure, and manage to kill his/her entire village.

At least the infection rate has slowed down

Still at 78k at least officially lol

You mean "China's reporting of the infection rate has slowed down", while everyone else are doubling or tripling over the weekend.

Accurate representation of how Beijing prepare their weekly coronavirus statistics for public consumption:

3 boxes sitting on the shelf! 2 more coming home on Monday.

Play your cards right with that distribution channel to satisfy the incredible demands from Asia and you already have your next family vacation paid for.

Just try to stay away from cruise ships though :D

Man those n95 mask really did jump in price. Local pharmacy here in the bay was selling one for 10 bucks. Luckily I about 45 of them in my shed I purchased years ago but never opened them.

That's why we have headlines like these coming out of Vietnam, and why authentic N95 masks sent back from the U.S are treated like family treasures:

A company uses toilet paper to produce face masks in Hanoi

Market officials on Wednesday discovered dozens of large toilet paper rolls at the factory of Viet Han Company Ltd in Thuong Tin District.

They were being used to replace the antibacterial layer typically used in masks, Hoang Dai Nghia, head of the Team 1 at the Hanoi Market Surveillance Department, said.

“This company is cheating consumers amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.”

He added that all stock has been confiscated, and the department is considering giving the company the highest penalty.

Market authorities had earlier found and seized 140,000 masks with unclear origins, many made with toilet paper, and were looking for their manufacturers.

Industry insiders said the antibacterial layer is typically imported from China, but the Covid-19 outbreak in that country has resulted in limited supply from there.

Viet Han Company is not registered as a medical equipment producer but as a printer and napkin maker.

In the last 12 days market authorities around the country have uncovered over 4,200 violations related to mask production.

Masks have become scarce as demand surges in a country where 16 people have been infected by the new coronavirus as of Friday.

I can't help you but to say eyelids, my friend.

Hope that helps!

I have a friend who works at waxie. He says they’ve been selling n95 masks for $400 a case to China. He’s going to hook me up with a box at cost

Just take them for free at my work. No issues...

Everyone in here is talking about stockpiling but is anyone worried about the next Great Depression in the aftermath?

The working environment most people work in this society would go jobless if a plague goes global.

Damn, the Korean government only manage to test about 670 out of 9,300 Shincheonji cult members in Daegu who came forward so far, and the total numbers of infected is already sky-rocketing. Hopefully the rest will come out of hiding soon before they spread it to other people.

Also, I wish all these news outlets from the West would stop calling the cult of the Korean Jesus a "Christian Church".

South Korea declares 'red alert'
23.02.2020
South Korean President Moon Jae-in announced on Sunday that the country has raised its alert over the coronavirus to its highest level. Moon said the government would strengthen its overall emergency response as part of its "red alert."

Moon said authorities should take "unprecedented, powerful" measures to contain the coronavirus, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap.

The announcement comes after the country reported two more deaths from the coronavirus and 123 new cases on Sunday, bringing the total to 556, having doubled from Friday to Saturday. The two deaths take the nationwide toll to four.

More than half of the new cases were linked to a Christian church in the city of Daegu in the south of the country, after a 61-year-old woman who attended services there tested positive for the virus. The woman had no recent record of overseas travel.

The woman, who developed a fever on February 10, attended at least four services at the Shincheonji Church of Jesus before being diagnosed.

Around 9,300 Shincheonji members in Daegu have either been quarantined or have been asked to stay at home, said Jung Eun-kyeong, director of Korea's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC).

According to the KCDC, a majority of 309 or 55.6% of the total 556 confirmed cases were connected to the Shincheonji Church.

Daegu, South Korea's fourth-largest city and a population of 2.5 million, currently has 247 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

"The crisis level of Daegu and the North Gyeongsang province is grave," said Mayor Kwon Young-jin.

The mayor asked all Shincheonji Church members with symptoms to come forward and be tested. Authorities have yet to reach around 670 members.

"Hiding is not the answer. If you hide, it could hurt your health, your family's health, and will not help in the early cessation of the situation," Kwon said.
