This fight between Daniel Cormier and Gegard Mousasi should happened, instead of Daniel Cormier facing a semi retired over the hill fighter.

it would have been basically the same fight if not even more one sided

Matt Hughes vs Anderson Silva almost happened...

Yes dude...
It almost happened until it didn't.

Pretty much, Moose doesn't have an answer for that caliber of a wrestler
Moose is a better overall grappler than Anderson and most importantly had a full camp and would have put up a much tougher fight imo

judging both of thier performances mousasi had a good shot of beating daniel

I'd say he's at least shown the ability to keep fights standing more than Silva has and Cormier is no Jacare on the ground.

Control wise, he's close. Moose has issues with takedowns and getting back to his feet. Cormier rides out a 30-27 UD.

I like Mousasi and would like to think it would have been different, but DC is the champ for a reason. Moose would most likely try and cause damage while on the bottom which I didnt see Silva try that much.

That really would have been a cool fight. Better than the Silva fight. But I like seeing Silva lose & Mous win so it all worked out.

Cormier would throttle Mousasi. He'd be on his back for 14:45.

People here tend to discredit Moose. He had 1 fluke loss versus ummmm ... Hall, Jacare owned him in the second fight (which can happen, it's f-ing Jacare) and Machida (on blue pills) was a decent 5 round fight with terrible tactics from Moose though.

The guys he's beaten are not all shite. I don't rate his wins over Hendo and ummm Munoz much, even though Hendo is getting the next titleshot. However, I do rate his last win against a very talented fighter and even more so his total domination of Thales Leites, not even Anderson (in his prime) could dominate Leites in the same fashion. And where as Moose takes on risky fights, fighters like Vitor refuse to take on risky fights like this. Vitor, Anders, Bisping never wanted to fight Moose.

Also, to furthermore explain the risk of taking on an opponent perceived not on the same level, look at Rockhold Bisping. Again, he's not getting enough credit. He really needs a top 5 win.

He has issues with takedowns certainly and I could obviously see Cormier getting them but I think it would be harder plus he'd be more likely to land on Cormier whilst it was standing(Anderson for example has never shown he can time a jab whilst avoiding takedowns) and more of a sub/sweep threat on the ground.

It would actually have been quite an interesting match in terms of the latter IMHO as we so far haven't really seen Cormier fight a high level sub guy mostly on the ground. Barnett(perhaps better than Mousasi ontop but not off of his back IMHO) he took down a couple of times and was in danger of being leg locked once but most of that fight was standing on clinched against the cage, Monson doesn't really have much off of his back.

Moose doesn't get much credit on sherdog for some reason. Even though DC probably would win this fight it still would've been competitive. He has a very active guard compared to andersons more defensive guard

I'd be surprised if Mousasi managed to stuff 1 takedown.
