Cormier : How he escaped the Mir curse, pro move by DC

The curse talk has never made any sense except to make fun of it. Mir functions as a gatekeeper. You beat the gatekeeper only to lose to the champ, that's not a curse; that's called MMA. You could easily show the same pattern in any weight division.
 
Interesting, very interesting actually. Gonna be a nice bump if DC does win.

The Faber curse is worse. He'll always be stuck as #2. He can beat everyone but the "champ". Unless McDonald pulls off the upset.
 
DC has avoided the curse by simply waiting until somebody else beats Mir before he fights again.

If Barnett had any sense he would drop out of his fight against Browne in December and wait until after Mir/ Overeem and hope the Reem wins.

That way he will be curse free too and Overeem will be fucked! (esp. If Mir retires after that fight)
 
It is still to be seen if the curse is broken because DC didn't finish. We will have our answer in a few short hours. I can't wait! This card is gonna be sick!

Jones will be heavier than Cormier if they fight at LHW Cormier is already 224 ,that's Jones weight fight night and still lot of fat.

The only escape from the Mir curse is to then fight another guy who just beat Mir.. the same paradox that Lesnar vs Carwin created.. that way you have a 50/50 chance that the Curse chooses the other guy. BUT its only a temporary fix, as the Curse will catch up to you in your next fight.

Jokes aside, it's really not that strange. Frank Mir is a stepping stone for tougher competition. If you beat him, you face a better opponent you are more likely to lose to.

I guess fighting Mir takes their level down, probably by assuming everybody moves as slowly as Frank... Poor Reem is up next. He can't seem to win any more can he?

Was it the shit-talking or was it the fact that he side-stepped the curse by beating another guy affected by the curse?


UFC are protecting Cain from the curse. They know all about it and use it to beat people they don't favour.

b) It has nothing to do with who was the most recent or w/e, the Lesnar-Carwin fight was a paradox as they were both coming off a win against Mir and then fighting each other in their next fight, someone had to lose... So the Mir Curse improvised by having Lesnar beat to a pulp in the first round, only to have Carwin then lose in the second..
Once this paradox was settled, the Curse went right back to destroying both of their careers
