Controversial games

It was the right decision for a major platform to remove a game that would adversely affect its reputation, but at the same time, I do share the concern of "free speech", or to be more accurate, the idea of games being banned more easily by groups of people who clearly have no respect for games as a medium.
I grew up with D&D being devil shit, so I'm always wary of censor nazi's platforming themselves like bastions of justice.

Gaming has proven to be pretty resilient though. Regardless, Valve made the right move and dropped this trash.

Yeah, I'm glad that Valve dropped it. To be honest, I don't know how their processes work, but they should clear up things like this before they make news and paint their brand in a bad light to begin with.

I'm not worried too much about old biddies. I'm worried about toffs. The UK does have a history of censoring things, just because certain people don't like them.

This isn't the kind of indie game with genuine ambitions that depends on a major store like Steam or Epic or GoG to maximize its profits by broadening its platform, and handling all of the utility services that would overwhelm an independent developer. It was always angling for a viral word-of-mouth. All they care about is the upfront sale. I suspect these virtue signalers gave it to them.

This is exactly how Rockstar Games established themselves as a game studio.

So, someone released this on Steam and Leading Britain's Conversation has picked up on it...

I wonder if Steam will delete this game, if they should delete the game, and if there could be repercussions for Steam and the gaming industry going forward...

That's fucked up.

1000% correct. People crying about slippery slopes can fuck right off. A line needs to be drawn somewhere.
Honestly, I don't think it's any worse than than the content of some fucked up movies(August Underground for instance). Even some mainstream shit can get pretty wild, if a certain sub-genre catches lightning in a bottle(torture porn), and that's not even including the porn industry, which is constantly pushing the envelope with the content they offer, and have also waded into the videogame waters as of late as well.

Companies will ultimately make the decision whether or not to distribute it. Definitely not a slippery slope to tell them to fuck off, though. They can distribute the game independently if they wish.

Not only was the game fun, but the premise worked. You had a violent man forced to do violent things w the odds very against him surviving.

There was a point to it and not just some edgelord fantasy Hatred type game.
Manhunt started off fun, then it became a boring undercooked slog in the second act , that dropped stealth to become a clunky third person action game in the third act.

That game is carried by the voice work.
