Anyone know if they still have James Toney under an MMA contract? My search skills are not finding anything about what he signed.
Prob some of the guys from Pride that were on the roster but were not fighting at the time UFC bought amd absorbed it.
Barnett?
I believe Toney had a one fight deal for 500k flat. After Tim Sylvia embarrassed the ufc by getting ktfo against Ray mercer, Dana offered Toney a good payday to take a beating from Couture to restore mma’s dignity.
It's not a career, rememberIt's pretty dirty how ufc operates.
He’s like a penny stock .. just have to give it time. They still even got Erick Silva locked down in hopes he pans out
It's a career, just unique/ short. Point is its fukd how they can't get out of contract. Should be a buyout clause or something similar in effect. It's not a career, remember
miesha is at onefc too.Rich Franklin. Its why he didnt have a farewell fight with ONE even when he was a VP there.
It's funny, ufc is based on wwe model. the whole thing is fucked.Nothin compared to WWE
This entire thread is purely speculation. In reality we have no idea who’s under contract or not after retiring.
Not what I meant. Dana once said "it's not a career, it's a opportunity"It's a career, just unique/ short. Point is its fukd how they can't get out of contract. Should be a buyout clause or something similar in effect.
It’s not speculation. For example, Miesha Tate recently said she still owes Dana 6 fights on her contract.
As for Lesnar and Cain, there’s no way Dana let either out of their contract when they retired.
Who still has a ufc contract but is not fighting anymore? I can think of three off the top of my head who still owe the ufc fights
Cain Velasquez
Miesha Tate
Brock Lesnar
Pretty much anyone who retired without fighting out their contracts. For example, Nate Quarry was under contract more than a decade into his retirement. From the UFC's point, there's no benefit to cutting retired guys really.
UFC contracts have a minimum fights per year that they must request a fighter to fight and if not then the fighter is then allowed to be a free agent.
So a bunch of the old guys are complete free agents at this point "unless" the UFC has offered them fights to keep the contracts valid.
