He's from Crumlin in Dublin. It's known as a rough area and there's a good few crime families from there but on the whole, it'd be okay. Not Favella poverty, no where in Ireland is. I don't know Stockton, but from what I have seen there are many places more destitute than the worst in Ireland.

We have it quite good in our little country.

His family home now is in Lucan, nice place to live - middle class if you will. He certainly wasn't a rich kid.

Crumlin is a pretty tough area but it would be a lot more built up than where Diaz is from. Like any other rough part of Dublin they're mostly hardworking blue collar people. I imagine most of the UFC roster are from areas just as rough as where Diaz is from but they just don't choose to use it as a gimmick or act like gangstas.

The following is the definitive answer:

Conor McGregor was born and raised in Crumlin, Dublin. His father was a taxi driver. Crumlin is known as a working class area in Dublin with a lot of crime. You can find documentaries about the gang feuds and drugs in Crumlin and Drimnagh. His upbringing was not deprived by any means. He just came from a regular working class background in a slightly dodgy area.

When Conor was a teenager, his parents moved to Lucan. This is a much more middle class place, especially the area where he grew up. It's technically a suburb, but it's more like a village of its own.

So he wasn't rich and he wasn't poor. He's got the same background as most boxers and MMA fighters in Europe who come from working class backgrounds.
