I'm sure there are some Conor historians around here who have watched more interviews and stuff that I have...

Nate mentioned in that fox sports bit yesterday that Conor was a "rich kid" growing up. How much truth is there to that?

Media has played through the stories of Conor not having any money but that was during his early adulthood and doesn't necessarily mean his parents were also poor. I've seen a video inside McGregor's parents' house and it seemed like a middle class family home but I guess I could be wrong.

I understand that "rich" to Nate's childhood standards probably doesn't mean what most people think it means but does anyone have any idea of what Conor's parents did/do when McGregor was growing up?

None, even from Conor's accent alone you can tell he's from a working class Dublin background.

He had the typical working class background seen across the whole of the British Isles. Not poor, but not rich either.

He was a plumber before picking up a boxing, then MMA career.

Rich kid =/= plumber.

Hes father was a taxi driver, hes from crumlin were a lot of Irish gangsters live.

Conor didn't grow up rich but he grew up in a "house" with both parents around. The fact that he was living in his parents attic with his girlfriend is more interesting to me.

He didn't work after he quit plumbing, got on welfare and just train. I like the fact he dropped everything to go for his dream. Took that risk and put all his eggs in one basket. Inspiring

McGregor didn't have his own car until his UFC debut. His father was a taxi driver who lost his job and had to pay for cancer treatments. So "rich kid" sounds a bit silly.

Working class. obviously Nate had a rougher childhood, just.... listen to him

He grew up in Crumlin which is working class and pretty rough in some areas. His old man was a taxi driver. He definitely did not have a posh or rich upbringing. But he wasn't in abject poverty like some of the Brazilian fighters.

So if your dad had a job when you were growing up, you're rich?

While Nate was bullshitting, Conor got very aggitated over it, was funny.

Conor seems like he's definitely from a working class family. Not rich or poor either like the previous posts above me. Fan of the Diaz fighting style but I think they're both fatherless. From my experiences 90 % of fatherless dudes are overly emotional. Watched a prison documentary not too long ago, something like 75-80% of the American prison population is fatherless or from a single parent home. You could probably google that shit and find facts that support what I'm saying.

Point being, fatherless dudes (not all) will say ridiculous shit (and act on)out of emotion without facts and logic. You probably become that way living with broads for all your formative years And it fucks with the chemical balance in your brain, lol.
nice bro science lol

Adele has the most horrendous accent you will ever hear when she uses her normal voice. Those two aside, it's quite obviously not any indication of your upbringing.

It is in the sense that if you had a wealthy upbringing in Dublin, you would not sound like that. Listen to Conor then listen to an Irish rugby player from Dublin, they won't sound anywhere close to similar.
