I agree with you to some level but I can't blame him for cracking under the pressure.
He talked all kinds of shit about fighters who didn't embrace the promotional side of the job. Now he's tapping out like a punk..
The irony here is that his uncontrollable greed is what got him into this.
He wanted the ivory suits, lambos, playboy lifestyle so badly, he, together with Dana, concocted this new standard for running a hype train: 3 city world tours, countless tv show appearances and interviews, etc, etc.... Now he's playing the victim and asking for special treatment.
Apparently, his full camp in preparation for RDA wasn't enough to deal with a 10-day-camp Nate... LOL
Nate please crush that princess one more time.
While this is true, he came from the bottom. Most fighters have zero say with the UFC, in order to climb that mountain and become a star, you have to work within the system. I think the point is he felt that he'd achieved enough to where he had some say in how he approached his fights. There is cartloads of bullshit being posted on this forum about Conor being a victim to the UFC's promotional machine. "Conor standing up to the UFC"
I'm making an important counter-point: Conor built this golden cage himself. Crying about it now isn't heroic. It's incredibly pathetic.
Conor did like 10 press conferences for the first time he was fighting for the belt. The other fighter pull out, Mendes is on. Conor still has to do more media obligations, and it's not little, it's a lot when you're this big. So, for one fight, big part of his time went to that.
How dare a fighter want to train for a fight instead of promoting and not train.Lol what a joke. Dude built his entire image on promoting and talking shit. Now that he got made, he's "focusing" on training. Talk about a diva...I hope Diaz beats his ass even worse.

...and he loved every second of it.
Now he doesn't like all the press, because he can't call himself God and demean his opponent, without getting that Diaz L thrown in his face. The guy is so full of shit, it's spilling out of his ears.

Then, he has to do the same for his next fight. Lots of time doing something that will not improve him as a fighter.
Then, the first time happens again. Conor did it for the RDA, he pulled out, do it again but for Nate.
There is no way you can compare him to anyone in this part. Not even Ronda who also said that she don't like doing it.
Big part of Conor time went to this. This can ruin your preparation and cut. Conor used to look fine in weigh ins, but since he has been doing this he has looked terrible.
He is right.

You didn't even got my post. This was the first time Conor ever did this. He has been doing that since then and has lot of time lost with it. So it's of course much better for him to go back to training now. You can't say this guy was in the best shape he has been in his last fights. There is a reason he used to look good at weigh ins before all this.

As to the whole turning his back on promoting, I don't think he is. He says its specifically for this fight, coming from a loss. Obviously he feels like he's become too invested in promoting and forgotten how to be a fighter, and whose to say he's wrong?
