If Conor wants to beat Nate in a rematch then he will have to put aside his pride and use the gameplan from the holloway fight. The first fight was pretty clear in what it showed us: Conor's punches are not as effective against bigger guys and his conditioning is not suited for 5 rounds of striking.

So if Conor wants to beat Nate this time he must take the fight to the ground and grind out a decision. He won't finish Nate standing and he won't finish Nate on the ground but the ground is the only chance Conor has. This is very doable given the fact that Nate has some of the worst takedown defense of any top 10 fighter.

And once Conor gets the fight to the ground he must use a very specific style. He needs to you use a slow paced, stalling approach because 1) Nate will definitely find a submission if Conor throws to many strikes 2)Conor will gas if his ground and pound is to active. In fact I would advise him to not even try to pass, just lay in Nate's guard and throw the occasion elbow or punch.

So in summary, Conor's gameplan should be takedowns and stalling. I know it's not pretty, but that's the only way for Conor to pull this off because Nate is all wrong for Conor on the feet.

Great strategy, go to the ground with the BJJ Black Belt who already chocked the shit out of you....

Bad match up for Conor...Conor has better chances of beating Aldo or Frankie. Nate is just a bad match up for him. Solid chin, good boxing and excellent grappling. Vs. Aldo & Frankie, he can utilize his reach and his striking well. Stay out of the pocket and light them up. Frankie has solid TDs but I think that's the only advantage he has over Conor.

When Conor wasn't gassed he looked fine on the ground with Nate. Conor is competent on the ground when he is on top. His issue is fighting off his back: bad guard and no submissions.

Conor's best weapon is still his left hand. He shouldn't abandon that and go into what is arguably Nate's best weapon, the ground game.

Nate has better boxing and a ground game so Conor is kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. Pick your poison.

This post proves that there are 3 classes of novice. The dumb the dumber and the DUMBEST!!!!!!!! Yeah! Like Conor can strike out in several lethal ways while sucking his thumb in the fetal position like Bud Bundy!!! Get outta here!

You honestly believe he "looked fine" on the ground, Nate chose to give his back and was working for that triangle, mcnugget barely landed a punch

Interesting take, but like Petey said it's not one of those "It's so crazy it just might work!" plans.

Conner needs to defend his freaking FW belt.

Honestly what it should of taught him is you cant go up weight classes and head hunt.If your going up weight classes you need that dominic cruz kind of movement.Be elusive and hard to find.

If he wants to beat nate.He needs to use movement and kicks and be second so nate closes the distance for him and counter him.Rather then pressure him and head hunt and whiff on over 50 percent of your shots.

Conor McGregor is atrocious on the ground.

He didn't even so much as tuck his chin in to try and avoid the choke. His arrogance made him believe that his stand-up game was all that he needed.

Did you watch the fight? Nate took him down on the first, Conor managed to grab his ankles but from there, it seems Conor was clueless on what he should do next...Ground game is Nate's world...Conor's best chance is to strike with Nate...I just hope he uses head movement this time and stop relying on his "solid" chin, it may handle a few jabs and straights but you can't take punches to the chin all night...

I doubt he has the cardio or the skill to do that for five rounds.. Nate will force him to work hard from whatever position. And show me a fight where any fighter was able to just take Nate down and control him for five rounds. He lost to guys who used a very well rounded approach and all of them had great cardio. I don't see Conor being able to do that.

Conor's only chance is on th feet imo. But it will not be easy. Even if he tries to conserve energy, Nate will be in his face forcing him to work hard. Conserving energy against a Diaz is extremely dificult.

Conor wont have the cardio to keep Nate down for 5 rounds.. Unless you are trolling, this is just.. wrong..
You think a good gameplan for Conor is to take Nate down, and try to make it a ground war??

Jesus, please help this lost soul..
