He hasn’t been suspended so obviously all the tests are negative

Off season they test primarily for steroids.

Diverging self interests. They're making an example out of him imo. There were a few years where he carried the organization to the point that he thought he called the shots. The UFC has to show all the current and future stars that no one is bigger than the brand. He's locked into a contract and will be aged into irrelevancy. They know all the loopholes to make sure they don't breach the contract because they are the ones who intentionally wrote them in there in the first place. Short of successfully creating a union, Conor will have to ask how high every time the UFC tells him to jump. Two more fights left? He can have a BMF title shot against some killer for his 40th birthday. After that massacre, he can start training for the Nate trilogy when he's 45.

It's a proven strategy they use though. He has two fights remaining on his contract and claims to want a fight. He is still a massive draw, regardless of how much cocaine he is doing. The UFC is a business that likes to make money. Simpler solutions are neat and all, but yours doesn't hold up to the most obvious scrutiny. Less like Spectre and Blofeld and more like the Italian mob. It doesn't exactly take a criminal mastermind to pull off a monopolistic racket.
