Conor McGregor can indeed legally book a Boxing match without Zuffas permission (proof inside)

If UFC co-promotes, cool. If not, Con will be sued for what he earned. A millionaire's lawyer would go against a billionaires.

This is one of the dumbest comments I'm ever likely to hear. McDonalds and KFC are being sued all the time by regular people top law team is great but they can't manipulate laws for anybody.

haha I liked his posting style and he used to wreck a lot of trolls and yours is quite similar and I like most of your posts

Thanks fam

I like you too

Lol, feel free to get your guys hopes up for no reason if you really think he is going to get out of his contract and fight a boxing match

And even if he somehow did, you should slap yourself if you are a big enough of a rube to have bought that 60+ dollar card to watch Mayweather piece up an amateur boxer

IMO this is not really proof, as something like this hasn't happened before, so if it did it would set a big precedent which Zuffa would fight tooth and nail to stop.

I'm all for giving fighters more control, but so far the Ali act isn't even that well enforced and I think it does have some negatives - if MMA fighter's were in control of picking their own fights I think we wouldn't see the best fighters fight each other at the right times, which is often a problem in boxing.

I do think some kind of revised version of the Ali Act for MMA is the future though.

Who cares of he loses a fight in a boxing ring, he is suppose to lose especially to an alltime great like Mayweather. It will be like Mayweather losing an MMA match to Mcgregor, will that shock you? No and if he did I dont believe it will devalue Mayweather's talent in the ring, I might be wrong so I might give you that though, since not everyone thinks like me.

Mayweather will fight one more time to get to 50 undefeated, but if he fought McGregor I believe it would devalue that record somewhat, because no one would take that last fight seriously. In most people's eyes it would still be 49-0. Of course if he is only doing it for money and not to get his 50-0 record then fair enough.

I don't know, doesn't seem to tally for me.

when I've seen restraint of trade clauses thrown out it was at the end of a contract.

if the clauses are over the top and excessive they tend to get tossed. that's done to protect the contractor/employee and the marketplace.

For example, years back Brock had a no complete clause that he signed to get out of his WWE contract - he couldn't do mma or wrestle anywhere in the world for like 5 years. it was over the top due to being too long in time, location and field. Brock won and started wrestling and fighting. These days talents only have to worry about a 90 day clause and it's usually limited to televised cards and certain markets.

So basically you want to see conor fight 1 single boxing match then retire? As a fan of his, is this your masterplan??

Because the UFC sure is gonna let this slide and keep booking him fights like nothing happened.....

what.the.fock.

Then Money May would make him look like a fool. He would lose validity as a fighter, after he already did by Nate. Many casuals would get off his nuts and his star wouldn't shine so bright. UFC would drop him, or not give him fights and he would end up being the real loser in the situation.
He would look like a fool yes but he would also gain a lot of fans and haters. A lot more people will be made aware of who he is. A lot more people would tune in to see him fight in his primary sport. I don't think it matters how the fight ends - all the attention will have been positive and the UFC will likely gain more viewers. The only reason why the UFC would stop McGregor from fighting Mayweather would be that they want a share of the earnings, not because they want to protect McGregor. Also, I don't think McGregor would care at all if he looks like a fool afterwards as he can retire with 10x the purse he will ever get from a lifetime career in the UFC.
