During that time, Aldo was the champ, and Chad mendes was the number one contender. 2 weeks out Aldo pulls out. They then put mendes in for the interim belt. He beats him becoming champ(Int), then finally fights Aldo and beats him, thus defending his belt. If he had fought Aldo originally, he would have 13 second him, then would have beat mendes for first defence. He just did it backwards because of Aldo PULLING OUT. And it hasn't even been a full year yet.

This is not a gray area. You do not defend the interim belt against the lineal champ. If Aldo were to fight Conor next and win that does not count as a title defense for Aldo..

But logically speaking, conor held a championship belt, then fought someone and beat them, thus defending his belt. Conor has not defended the belt in how many months? 10 is the answer you are looking for. With the Eddie fight scheduled he most likely won't defend it until Super Bowl weekend, which is more than a year. The UFC should just strip him of the belt. If he beats Eddie (if) then he will vacate it without defending it, which I am fine with.

Conor has two title defenses. He has already beat the no.1 contender Holloway, way before he himself was a contender. I'd count that as a title defense as well.
