Conor had a bit of trouble connecting against the rangier, taller fighter.

Many of his shots weren't connecting. Nate often had to simply lean back or take a step back and Conors fist was connecting with nothing but air.

Reach is important when utilized correctly. We saw it with Jon Jones against Alexander Gustafsson, how different he looked versus how he normally looks against the shorter fighters with stubby limbs.

Conor is another whom often has the advantage in reach and uses it well, but last night he was often on the outside swinging and missing.

In the first round, he was landing on almost everything he threw. He tried to take nate out and gassed. That is when his punches started missing and started to get hit. Those saying he has no chin are morons. He's already proven he has a great chin. but when you move up 2 weight classes and fight a guy that is obviously much larger than you, this is what can happen.

Then he shouldn't have picked a fight with the taller guys. There are dozens of reasons why he lost but it all comes back to this. He lost to a better fighter regardless of anything else.

Conor landed a third of his punches in round 1. Plus, he gassed because Diaz was landing too.

Diaz isn't much larger. They're both the same weight. It's just for once Conor didn't have ~15lbs and a 5" reach advantage.

Reach and conor's inability to deal with it was the #1 reason why he lost.

are you serious? nate was out of shape and looked bad in the fight. Cowboy would sub him. Pettis and RDA would KO him. Let's face it, the Conor hype train has been derailed!

Nate isn't much bigger. They have the same walking weight. Nate is taller. Conor got fucked up fighting a 155er that wasn't in Cage Warriors. You might as well think of this fight as 2 LW's fighting at their walking weight. Conor would have the same weight cut as Nate if they fought at 155. Conor goes the extra mile to cut to 145 and fight much smaller opponents.

McGregor responded: 'I'm just giggling at his soft body. How can a fat guy be so skinny at the same time, it amuses me.

Conor did not think he was much larger.. did he?

They may have weighed nearly the same weight on weigh ins, but that doesn't mean they are the same size. Nate has fought at ww before, conor hasn't. I didn't see nate land anything in round 1. conor was landing at will. Landing a third, cause conor was throwing a ton of strikes. he gassed in the 2nd and then he got hit, not vice versa. If they fought at 155lbs, it might have went differently. Conor carrying 13lbs over the 155lb limit, probably gassed him faster.

Ill admit, Conor was landing bombs in the first but i was suprised with his strategy- he stood relatively flat footed and chucked with Nate. When his left couldn't take him out he had no other answers. Once Nate found his range it was just a matter of time

Whether he thought that or not nate was bigger. I thought it was obvious watching them fight. People can claim all they want how they are the same size, but they aren't the same size. nate has fought at ww before. Conor hasn't. That was the heaviest conor has ever been for a fight. Way heavier...The heaviest conor has ever fought at was 155lbs.

I was surprised at that as well. Also, he threw very few kicks. Why not attack Nate's body like he did against mendes? Not sure why he didn't. His kicking could have been a huge factor, if he utilized it more. he threw some spinning shit, but that is never that effective in these fights. Where was all his front kicks to the body or the high kicks to the head and body?

Lmfao, Conor landed 27 to Nate's 22, both at 35%.

Your excuses are hilarious. Conor himself said you've seen me on salads, now see me on steak.

Nate and Conor are the same weight. Conor lacked the huge size advantage he normally has, got rocked by a 70% power volume punch, and tapped so fast Sage Northcutt called him a bitch.

But please, keep the tears coming. So salty.

LOL Conor looked like he was battling a giant in that cage. It reminded me of the shocking size difference between Hendricks and Wonderboy when they fought.

I thought that as well, to be honest. I'm a huge conor fanboy as many know, but I m not shying away cause i was wrong in my prediction..

When holly was choked out, I'm not sure why, maybe others can attest to this also, but I had this weird feeling in the back of my head that something is going to happen. Almost like it there was something in the air. And it did. I thought conor looked great in the 1st. but when the 1st ended, i got worried. I started to notice conor slowing down.. I was like, conor better end this fast or he could be in some trouble.

Nate fights at 155 the way Conor fights at 145...

They starve and radically dehydrate themselves to compete one division below what would be their body's natural weight class.

Conor looked like he was fighting a giant in there last night. It was Nate's huge height/reach advantage that ultimately gave McGregor all the landing difficulty.

Diaz had 4 fights as WW years ago but has was is it +20 at LW.
Conor fought a lot at LW before entering the UFC.
So both of them have experience at a higher weight class.
Conor is the one saying FW is dead to him and calling them all midgets.
Which is a sign he sees him self as a bigger man.

---^ This.

Nate Diaz is a 155lb fighter. Conor lost to a 155lb fighter. It is just that they decided to avoid the weight cut due to the short notice.

RDA is a 155lb fighter that mauled Nate Diaz.

RDA will, someday, eat Conor alive.

NO tears my friend. I am a bit shocked. But they aren't the same size. Conor has fought the majority of his career at 145lbs. he's fought 3x at 155lbs and that was his heaviest weight. he weighed 168lbs at weigh ins, that is 23lbs heavier than 155lbs. That will effect his cardio.. I don't care what the fight stats you quote say, I didn't see much of anything nate threw land. maybe most of those 22 punches were jabs. But i saw conor landing heavy left hands and uppercuts the entire 1st round...

That's like saying gsp and bj penn were the same weight. When they weren't.

Emotion and fanboys/haters aside... People should be able to see clearly that based on their heights and frames Conor is a natural 155 pounder and Nate is a natural 170 pounder.

Both guys have chosen to starve and radically dehydrate themselves to fight in divisions where they come in against their opponents as the significantly bigger men.
