"If McGregor is found guilty assault charges hold a maximum sentence of one year. However the felony level charges for criminal mischief, which stems from the damage caused to the fighter bus, are treated much more seriously by New York's justice system and therefor carry much heavier jail terms."

So assaulting a person isn't nearly as bad as damaging the buses in nyc?

He won't go to prison. This debacle will cost him though.

Buses are worth more than your average person. Well, monetarily.

Nah way US justice system works is they charge you to the max then plea way down so keep courts and prisons free for really bad stuff. all this will be knocked down to disturbing the peace misdemeanor, fine and pay for damages and move on.

well, idk but thinking about usa and vips i can just think about Vince Neil and OJ Simpsons.
Not that the rest of the (western, at least) world is so much different but do things change that much since 80s and 90s?

(if you have money)

Conor is probably already in Ireland and doesn't need to return

They throw out the max to make news. Conor will spend 0 days when it's all said and done. Jones hit a pregnant women with his car, ran away, came back for his weed, and ran again. You really think Conor, who has more money, will get punished more for this????

it seems backwards. shouldn't assault be considered worse than damaging a bus? Perhaps it's a anti-terrorism thing

And I know you like cage fighting bro, so we decked out your F350 bus with a UFC hotdog brander on the automatic hotdog dispensing machine in the boot. So when you cook up your hotdogs they come out ready for all your juiced up neanderthal motherfucker friends to chow down.

Nah, he'll be fine. They'll just take as much as money from him as they can.

Yeah, because Jones is black. In light of all the police shootings and black lives matter, they might wanna set an example - especially since he's white AND he's a foreigner.

He's going to plea it down to a fine or something.

Jail time is not what he has to worry about. It's the civil settlements, losing his new lucrative UFC contract, losing sponsorships/endorsements, and the time sitting out.

all in all this could cost him as much as 50m if you include the money he could have potentially made.

Based on his temperment and behavior he's probably gonna blow the remainder of his money so he could have used those funds.

He isn't serving a single day in prison and the UFC isn't going to let go off their biggest cash cow so another organization can scoop him up.

Whos backed by a multibillion dollar corporation with very greasy palms who wouldnt want to lose their cash cow for very long....

Damn just beat me to it

Conor isn't going to jail. He will get a taste of our gluttonous legal system here in NY, however. They will fine him as much as they can & give him some program (anger management, donating his time to charity, etc.).

The problem that Conor will face is going to be monetary. His criminal worries are nil....his financial situation will come under attack. Pretty sure that he will be viciously sued by The Barclay Center, Michael Chiesa, Ray Borg, at least one UFC official, and anyone else who may claim to have been inured or affected by the bus attack incident.

Conor could have saved a few million simply by asking Khabib to accept 10 million to never propose or accept an offer to fight Conor. This man went and got himself into way too much shit to avoid that guy under the guise of really trying to have a confrontation. That incident screamed of someone trying to make a statement, while making sure that it would be broken up before an actual confrontation ensues. New Yorkers see this shit at least 7 times a day in various forms. We used to call it "Faking Jax."

You re really out of it if you think khabib would accept being bought off by mcduck
Like you re on another planet or you re delirious

Sometimes even spitting at someone can be filed as a minor assault, since it’s a misdemeanor assault he’s dealing with and a felony mischief charge, the felony one is worse.
