First off. Yes I'm a Conor fan. Just like I'm a fan of probably 200/500 other fighters on the roster. So if you come here to insult me because of that, don't waste your breath. Anyway. People on here tend to think Conor and nate are the same size basically and that Conor didn't really move up weight classes. This isn't true. Nate Diaz is a big guy. He's 6 feet tall and walks around and 185 pounds. This is well documented throughout his career. Conor is 5.8 feet tall, and walks around at 166 pounds. He literally weighed in at 167 for a 170 fight. Nate the day before the fight whent to sleep and 183 pounds. There is an article where he admits this himself. That means he cut 13 pounds just to make weight, while Conor was preparing for to cut weight from 166 to 155 for dos anjos. Now with that being said, I'm not necessarily saying this is the reason nate won, but just pointing out this had an impact on the fight. Thoughts? Please try to keep it respectfull( though I know this is sherdog).

Diaz looked huge, not used to seeing him between fights

The bigger guy wins when skill isn't involved.

McGregor > Aldo
Diaz > McGregor

Yeah and Conor's an idiot for taking the fight,

Twice

Conor did look smaller at the face off when he's sideways and not lat flared with chest out.

In other fat news, Anderson was closer to DCs size than expected.

Conor's maximum size is higher than 166 lbs though, like you implied, it was in the process of cutting. Days before the fight he was cutting...at his build and musculature he holds more muscle than that. While before UFC 189 last year he was 170 lbs during a press conference Q&A. That is around, or was around, his walking weight. He had since been training hard to cut from a higher weight to 155, so he may have been 170ish or more...about 12 lbs lighter than Nate Diaz.
Smaller fighter? Absolutely....but the difference isn't as large as, say, Conor's difference between most of the FW fighters.

As stated im not grasping at anything. I literally wrote that this may or may not have been why Nate won, but literally a thread to just discuss the size aspect. That's all friend.

yeah, nate is bigger. but conor is the only ufc fighter in history to repeatedly use that as an excuse. embarrassing really.

Conor weighed at 168 lbs and Nate at 169 lbs. Both cut weight for the fight and there's no way in hell Conor walkaround weight is 166 lbs.

The thing is though I don't think he was cutting weight yet. What I meant was in his head he was preparing for a 155 pound fight. But the Nate switch was what 11 days out. Fighters don't typically cut weight until a few days before. And I remember a interview with Ariel along while back, I'm talking when he was supposed to fight cole miller, he asked him his weight, and he's usually around 166- 171 range, witch is still much smaller than Nate Diaz.

Nate weighs 183 if he's fat, Conor could also drink tequila and eat cake until he hits 183. No matter what difference Nate's slightly higher weight might have made, not even training for the fight made a bigger difference.

Well lets be honest here without the hyperbole. Aldo and Conor arnt much difference in size. Aldo is 5'8 and Conor is 5'8.5 and Aldo cuts alot of weight to make 145 too. That's why he's always had a gasing problem toward round 4 or 5

About 2 inch shorter and a 4 inch reach disadvantage.

No more than 10 pounds difference really. Conor's a big FW and Nate's a big LW. I bet Conor can lift more weight.

Listen. I know alot of people think Conor is massive, and in comparison to some of the featherwights he's faught like Mendes, siver, and brandao he is, but Conor isn't generally a big man. It's been pretty much established wayyy before the Nate fight that he walks around between 166- 170. Nate is always in the 180s walking around.

Time out. Conor didn't simply cut down from his FW walking weight to make LW.
I believe around the time of the bulking phase of his 155 title shot, McGregor exceeded 170, some Sherdoggers (i know) giving a number of 175. That doesn't sound too unreasonable....and it's about 10 lbs within an out-of-shape Nate.

Conor always wears high heel shoes. They are measured at about and inch difference witch is nothing. This is a bigger size difference.Nate looks at least 4 inches taller witch he basically is.

Nate said that he was 175 when he stepped into the cage.
