Re-watched the Lawler Condit fight again and I still think that one could really go either way. Gun to my head I would give it to Condit, but I think it's way closer than a lot of people act like.

I don't. I've seen it countless times.

I was a huge fan of both (at the time); fell off Nick's wagon throughout the aftermath of that fight.

"All he did was run away."

No. What he actually did was not allow himself to be backed into the cage and battered like some of Nick's other opponents.

He circled out and reset in the middle of the cage.

Could the fight have been a sloppy banger? Sure, but Carlos fought Nick exactly the way he should have. It was smart and effective in all the right ways. Brilliant performance by Carlos.

I very much enjoyed that fight.
Yeah Diaz had a very particular way of breaking guys down, and Condit just refused to get trapped in a brawl with his back against the cage. Very smart gameplan and watching it at the time I was really impressed he was able to stick with it the entire fight. That fight showed wrestling wasn't Diaz only weakness, his very straight forward and linear movement could be used against him too.

100%.

Nick is effective if he can bully you and fight in a straight line. Condit used superior movement, angles and kickboxing to pick him apart effortlessly and not play into his game. Diaz fans cried because he fought smart and Nick couldn't diversify or bully him. Nick walked into offense complaining instead of trying something different.

To this day I think I'm the only person in the world that got excited when I saw Condit was going to point fight. I knew it was going to be effective and I wanted to see Condit fight for the belt, why risk it. And I hate Diaz and highly enjoyed watching him lose that way.

I knew it wasn't going to be what everyone wanted when it was first booked. Diaz is too tough to KO for most guys, and technical enough on the ground to not be threatened by Carlos, and is generally the type of guy that needs to be defused. Add into that the Diaz's being notoriously unadaptive and Condit being an intelligent fighter, and I don't understand anyone thinking this fight was going to go any different

Coming into the fight with those expectations, I was able to sit there and actually appreciate Carlos' attempts to go for big things, which everyone else seemingly overlooked because they expected more of it.

I've been banging the drum for years every time someone complains about this fight that it didn't go how everyone bitches about it. Condit would point fight to defuse Nick and get ahead, then he'd try something risky which didn't pay off, so he'd be behind again and have to point fight to get ahead again, rinse and repeat. You don't get a meme about Nick commenting on "spinning shit" because Condit was only fighting boring. People ignoring that still to this day feels like a kid throwing a fit because they don't want to accept it. I wanted a bowl of ice cream and got a KitKat, therefore KitKats suck

Diaz fans still whining about this shit years later as Condit has permanent residence in their minds will always be hilarious. Nick walked forward, got picked apart by a superior striker and soundly lost.
What's even funnier is it hasn't even aged well in retrospect

Condit post Diaz fight went on to win 3 more fight of the night awards and arguably should have won the belt. Diaz had 2 stinker fights and his most notable performance was a streamed court hearing.

My favorite was post fight Diaz throwing a hissy fit and calling him a point fighter almost to the point of tears. But when a reporter asked him why didn't you crank the submission he had in the 5th? He literally goes " I didn't crank it because I thought I was up on the scorecards"........ (Seriously, how does this guy have any fans? You have to be kidding me).

Bro, what the fuck with this necrobump? OP has since deleted his account, we don't need this back

Also, that score sucks. Your lawyer should have advised you to keep it to yourself.
Should I have made a brand new thread to discuss it? I just used the search and used a thread that existed

My score is my score. Its a 50/50 striking fight with one guy never moving forward. Nick lands harder shots. Condit only has more "significant strikes" because they count every little tiny pitter patter leg kick as a sig strike lol. He landed 4-5 good leg kicks the entire fight.

I never watched that fight. Maybe his reaction is due to knowing it was close and being humble. acknowledging Nicks performance.

There is literally ZERO argument Lawler won more than 2 rounds and it's a BIG STRETCH to give him 2.

It's super easy to give Condit rounds 1-4. It's the biggest robbery in UFC title fight history and I will die on that hill

He clearly won the fight lol Diaz fans smoke weed laced with all of the drugs

Bullshit.

I been hearing about this weed laced with other drugs ever since D.A.R.E. and I have smoked all sorts of weed and weed products and its always just weed.

I think one time I got something that had a little something extra curricular going on but even then I think it was known to have been purchased as weed laced with some sort of coke or stimulant.

I was told of this random free additional drugs myth and heard all about it.

It's bullshit.

Bullshit I say.
