That source is from 2015, prior to him being hospitalized for trying to cut too much weight, and he was recovering/recovered from a long layoff due to injury. Prior to the McGregor fight, Nurmagomedov was 170 lbs a couple weeks out from the Barboza fight:

“I weighed this morning, 15lbs (left to cut). 14 days or two weeks to weigh-in, I think it’s good. Seven kilograms, not bad."

It says in this tweet that he's usually around 188 pounds 44 days out. Walk around weight usually isn't far off from cage weight

I don't get why they just don't weigh the fighters when they get to the venue on fight night. Then add "Cage Weight" as a Tale of the Tape stat.

DC was never a huge HW. He was at the rumoured "cruiserweight" region.

The thinking was, he was not going to be able to get to 265 without being borderline obese but 205 was probably going to be out of reach for him, especially because of what happened to him in Beijing (I think it was those Olympics)

That's not why I referenced the Barboza fight, it was to contradict your assertion that Nurmagomedov was 175 lbs or more in the cage, it also makes 166 lbs plausible since it's only a 4 lb difference.

Nurmagomedov weighed 170 lbs, two weeks before his fight against Barboza. Fighters aren't cutting weight that far out from a fight, ergo that was his cage weight for that particular fight.

Fighters also aren't cutting weight one week out, and that's when Nurmagomedov claimed to be weighing 166 lbs for the McGregor fight. It was the biggest paycheck of his life, are you truly that surprised that he would diet that low so that he didn't miss out on it? Especially since he already lost a year because of poor dieting?

What are you talking about with the whole "fighters aren't cutting weight one week out" thing? Guys get down low purposely on the monday before so they don't have to cut weight that close to weigh ins. That's what Khabib does. He enters camp heavy, cuts down gradually, and then balloons back up to the 180s on fight night

“Who cuts a ton of weight at 155? Khabib! Khabib cuts a shitload of weight. 195 three weeks ago, 191 when he showed up in camp. Now he’s down to 182, 183... (On fight night he's) probably 185-182, somewhere around there."

This is from teammate Josh Thompson, who was working closely with Khabib during the lead up to UFC 229.

Again, you're delusional if you believe Khabib weighs 155 on weigh in day, and only rehydrates to 166 pounds LOL. That's not natural at all. You hydrate back to a number near your walk around weight which is why Conor weighs 170 on fight night.

You are the one who singled out Nurmagomedov, among 112 fighters, so if anyone has an agenda in this discussion regarding him then it's you.

You hydrate back to a number near your walk around weight which is why Conor weighs 170 on fight night.

Jon Jones walks around at 238 lbs, that doesn't mean he cuts from that weight. And McGregor was 171 lbs, not 170 lbs, in his fight against Nurmagomedov.

What's "hard" and "difficult" is all relative. Bisping was fighting into his late 30s, and weight cutting becomes more difficult as you get older, and Nate has historically cited his dislike for dieting as for why he doesn't want to weight cut anymore. As for McGregor and Diaz fighting at the same weight, the former has more muscle than the latter.

And if you really "don't care" then why even have a thread about this? lol. Anybody with half a brain knows he isn't 166 on fight night. Almost common knowledge tbh. No fighters are sent to hospitals when they only have to cut 11 lbs from their walk around weights / cage weights.

He was 170 lbs, two weeks out from the Barboza fight (which makes 166 lbs plausible), and though he may very well have been in the 180 region prior to getting hospitalized, I always use the most recent sources.
