Compilation of Alex Pereira's grappling in the UFC, is it as bad as people say and can big abe lincoln exploit it?

I'm sad to say I agree with you.

I really want Poatan to win this but I don't think he will.

His takedown defense is decent considering how new he is to MMA, but once he's on the ground he still looks lost, and that's against mediocre grapplers.

Ank is the best grappler he's faced and unless Alex can hurt him early, I don't see him doing well.

I'm afraid we're in for a Bigfoot/Fedor style mauling.
I don't like it either but that's why we watch the fights.

Alex doesn’t need to outwrestle Abe, he just needs to survive. If he can do that, he gets at least 4 more chances to reset. If he can get a standup or two, even better. We all watched Jan gas out trying to submit him, so it’s not like Alex is totally helpless on the ground. His sub defense is serviceable.

If Abe dominates on the ground and makes it look easy, I won’t be surprised, and I’ll be here for my crow. Just remember, that cuts both ways. If Alex can defend some takedowns and nullify the gn’p, I have a long list of haters that will be @‘d and I expect you all to man the fuck up and take your comin’ uppins.

I agree with all that the difference with this fight is ank is legit on the feet. If Alex wins this one he proves he is the best lw out here.

I also have a lot of people I want to @ to troll if ank wins, but I know this is a tough fight. Definitely gonna be nervous on fight night

I expect Alex is going to kick the fuck out of Ankalaev's legs pretty much from the start, which should at least help alleviate the TD risk particularly later into the fight or perhaps lead to a finish.

I think his grappling isn't great, but as long as he can minimize the damage he takes should the fight go to the ground, he's still got really good odds over five rounds.

I won't claim to have any real clue who wins here but Poatan is far more active as a champ and likely only has a couple years left, so I'd like to see him win this one.

Random question but what do name colors mean?

I have no clue and the Xenforo site doesn't give an exact reason.
Are you guys talking about forum usernames?

It appears to differ based on belt color/mod and premium account. Xenforo seems to usually have this stuff setup at a user group level where 1 whole group of users get assigned one color for usernames while another group get another. In this case, it looks like the belt colors are representing the groups

I was just curious as I have noticed a lot more than there used to be, white, orange, red, green, yellow, pink, blue, light green, p

Yeah.

Admin - Red
Mod - Blue / Lime Green
Plat - Dark Green
Awesome - Pink

But for some reason regular users are White ... and a random Admin Orange

If someone's name appears red, it means they interacted with Dreyga recently and you have to give them some space and electrolytes to recover.

Yeah it's mainly the orange and white color names that got me, doesn't seem to be a reason why some of us have orange and white names.

Is it not silver and titanium belts that have orange?

I see the lower belts with white names

Well lets go ahead and make sure we’re on eachother’s lists 😂

Jan is the best grappler he faced, I'd give jan's grappling like a 6/10, he got smoked by glover and controlled by rakic and ankalaev on the ground but he has solid offensive grappling
Jan is a better grappler than Ankalaev by far. He's just ancient and lacks cardio and Ankalaev was able to hold him down once Jan gassed.

If you exclude holding down gassed out decrepit elderly fighters late in fights, Ankalaev's grappling in terms of control time, takedowns, and submission attempts compares unfavorably to many former victims of Poatan's.

ankalaev took down krylov when he wanted to. We don't know if ankalaev is a worse offensive grappler than jan since he doesn't shoot many takedowns but if he is on a similar level of wrestling to Jan and has better cardio then he can certainly win a decision considering Jan went to a split with alex even with his grandpa cardio

Going to get even more mileage out of this copy pasta till Saturday it seems.

Ankalaev Grappling Stats:

1 TD per fight on average, 30% TD accuracy <lol>
2/10 against Jan.
1/4 against mighty wrestler Volkan Oezdimir.
1/2 against post-exploded-knees Thiago Santos.
1/3 against Klidson Abreu (who???)
1/3 against Dalcha Lungiambula (literally who?)
Got taken down by Paul Craig twice, then submitted.

We absolutely DO know he is a worse offensive grappler than Jan as he has 0 subs, 0 sub attempts, and you can see his takedown stats above.

Jan has a td average of 1.09 per fight and is 20% more accurate with his shots going an even 50/50 overall.

Jan went to and split with Alex because one judge didn't watch the fight, as clear a 29-28 as it gets with Jan sucking air on the ground unable to get up afterwards. Less grandpa cardio, more elevation as it was affecting Alex too.

Ank can wrestle. His actual groundwork isn't the best. He prefers to punch. He doesn't really pass guard either. I think the issue is his fight IQ. He will probably eat some calf kicks before he decides to wrestle. That would probably be too late.

I think it might be guys that had a Platinum account or infraction have a user group.

He prefers to strike and doesn't commit to takedowns unless he absolutely has to, in a lot of those stats he was winning the fights on the feet and shot half assed takedowns just to mix it up. When he had to wrestle to win against nikita krylov, he did take him down and krylov is one of the best grapplers and wrestlers in the division. If he half asses takedowns like he does in a lot of his fights then pereira will beat his ass, but I expect him to show up with more commitment to takedowns than previous fights because he usually doesn't have to wrestle to win since he can outstrike his opponents which isn't the case in this fight
