1. The UFC putting all their promotional muscle behind Conor made him a big star. This is silly, Conor made himself a big star with the way he fights and the way he talks. Yes, the UFC helped by giving him the forum to be himself (world tour against Aldo etc.) The UFC invests promotional money in people where they will get a return. They can't just make whoever they want a star. Conor did the work, now he is reaping the rewards.
2. The UFC is biased towards Conor. The treatment any fighter will get by the UFC is directly proportional to how popular that fighter is with the fans how much fans are willing to pay to watch that fighter. Conor merits the treatment he gets by virtue of his drawing power. If you don't like it don't buy his fights. If enough people do this things will change.
3. This is a sports entertainment and not a real sport. The matchmaking in fight sports can never please everyone. In fight sports the matchmaking will tend to lean towards what the casual fans want because the hardcore fans are going to watch anyway. Hardcore fans either have to live with that or they will be perpetually disappointed. In traditional sports the tournament format is usually used and this is what the fans have come to know and enjoy. Tournaments don't work well in the fight game because of the long time between contests and because of injuries. The actual competition of MMA is still more legit than any other sport, the rules of MMA dont constantly shift to give advantages to certain athletes. The NFL changes rules all the time usually in the benefit of the offense (penalties for touching the QB or receiver etc.) The same is true in the NBA where if anyone sneezes on LeBron its a foul. All sports adjust to sell their product to the fans.
