That said, it is very similar in tone and setting to many Stephen King stories imo. That's not a criticism btw, because I love the story but I definitely see the connection between the two.

Yeah I could see it being similar in tone. The thing is when dealing with this type of genre as seen in his novels, it's pretty difficult to shake the feels like Stephen King tone when the guy pretty much invented it :P. Can't wait to give Lock and Key a try though, nothing but good things from buddies about it!

Well I just wrapped up Remender's Uncanny X-Force and aside from one crappy arc it was great. I'm glad I started my X-Men odyssey with such a kick ass series.

I currently have Morrison's New X-men and Whedon's Astonishing X-Men up next on my X-list.

you are reading in the same order i did. while astonishing and new were good i think i would've liked them more if i had read them sooner. after reading remender's uncanny x-force i went through a period of tracking down some of the stuff i missed before but it kinda paled in comparison to me. nothing mutant related could feel the void of that title's completion. i would definitely recommend uncanny avengers as it continues some of the plot of x-force. same thing happened with deadpool i bought some of his solo stuff because he was so interesting in uncanny but it was crap.

There was a guy in the news today who bought a house for 10k. Well, after removing newspaper from inside the wall he discovered Action Comics #1 with Superman. He tore the back over and some of the pages are yellow but he already got bids for more than 100k online.

Morrisons New X-Men is one of my all time favorite main stream comic series I have ever read...

It single handily got me back into comic books again. I honestly cant rave enough about this series. Grant does things in that series that was honestly mind blowing.. Uncanny X-Force IMO was also incredible but pales in comparison to Morrison's run.

I'd like to check out some of Marvel's on-going Avengers and X-Men titles, but it seems to a marvelnoob like myself that they all crossover with one another. One of the things I loved the most about Uncanny X-Force was how self-contained it was, which is something I look for.

Checked out the new volume of Uncanny X-Force and eh... didn't hook me. Not a fan of how Psylocke is being portrayed in this run, like an irrational bitch. I also checked out the new Secret Avengers and Fearless Defenders and I liked both. But why does it seem like Marvel is obsessed with female characters being in charge? Or just having groups comprised of nothing but females or almost entirely females.

Is that the Uncanny X-Force with Deadpool and Fantomex or the one with Storm and Bishop? Because I'm just getting into the former and am loving it.

Its like Playboy for kids. They're so much more violent and sexualized its crazy.
I wouldn't let my 10 yo kid read this stuff.

But I do think its great and realistic that Emma Frost works out in a push-bra and panties.

Also: There is definitely a weird push for woman in positions of authority all over America. But thats a conversation for the WR

It's the new one with Storm. And yes, the previous volume of UX-F is awesome.

That's true. Just as long as it doesn't affect the stories I guess it's okay. It's just kind of dumb to see a female character drawn like she's 20 years old with a hipster haircut and huge Angelina Jolie lips in charge of fucking S.H.I.E.L.D.

In other news I also checked out some more Marvel titles over the weekend. Uncanny X-Men, All New X-Men and Captain America. They were all enjoyable, but CA was more entertaining.

All New and Uncanny X-Men are the best X-Men books in years.

Gold Balls is the best mutant.
