Just found a badass site and all I've done this week is read books.
Read Secret Wars (2015), some of Civil War II tie ins and issues 1&2 of main story, Howard the Duck, Gwenpool, Deadpool, Invincible Iron Man, Astonishing Ant-Man, and several more. I'm hooked.

Howard was great, DP was fun and I am loving the current IIM books.

Any other newer Marvel runs in should check out?

How was Coates on the new Panther?

Miracleman

Alan Moore's Miracleman was great. I particularly liked the allusion to them as Greek Gods. For example, how the daughter can speak as soon as she's born, totally something out of mythology.

I had just read Moore's Swamp Thing, and I didn't know what to expect from Miracleman. When I realized that Moore reinvented Mircaleman to such an extant that he was effectively no longer a Captain Marvel knockoff it completely blew my mind.

Kid Mircaleman was so fucked. That scene in London...

Have you read Neil Gaiman's Miracleman stories? Is it worth continuing the series after Moore's run?

I'm not as crazy with marvel as I was years ago but I have a few books I collect monthly that have been solid.

The Ultimates

All new all different avengers has been good

Silver surfer

Vision

Miles Morales Spidey

These have all been pretty solid each month plus the Star Wars books can't be beat

I've read the newest Vision, its been excellent. I'm up to *spoilers*

Where the other droid, Vis' brother, accidentally kills Visions son.

With all the "shaking up" Marvel is doing I dropped all but a few titles I was reading as it seems it's more important to make a quick buck then it is to make sense anymore.

Kept:
Old Man Logan - best thing they have right now.
Squirrel Girl - my lady loves it.
Silver Surfer - fun book, but as long as Allred's on it, I'll buy it.
Poe Dameron - 5 issue mini series
Han Solo - 5 issue mini series
Weirdworld - dunno if it's still going. It's been outstanding since the Battleworld mini.
Gwenpool -

Dropped:
The Ultimates - good
Uncanny X-Men - has started falling off.
Moon Knight - good
Squadron Supreme - decent
Hyperion - meh
Nighthawk - decent
Deadpool - decent
Mercs for Money - surprisingly good
Captain Marvel - good
Spider Gwen - good
Spider Man/Deadpool - decent
Doctor Strange - decent
Venom - good

There's more I can't remember, which is kinda another problem. Marvel's making a lot of forgettable shit at anywhere from $3.99 - $9.99 an issue. Adds up quick.

Dropped Grayson as it's rebirthed into Nightwing, no thanks DC. Had previously dropped Midnighter because it became more of dude getting his fuck on and less about anything else.

Have no clue what to do with all the recent books I've bought. Might donate them to Goodwill.

With all 16 phonebook-sized volumes now ready to download, Dave Sim (or rather, his assistants -- luditism is among Sim's notorious quirks) emailed his newsletter subscribers with a link to download "Cerebus," the first volume, along with "High Society," completely free, and encouraged readers to pass the link along to "people who are looking for great entertainment." The link also leads to the webstore, where readers can complete their digital collection; notably, though, a memo from Sim also says that if readers cannot afford the books, they should download them from filesharing sites "guilt free."
Link in the image below:

CEREBUS started as a parody of CONAN, replacing a mighty warrior with ... well, basically a pig. In its time it was the greatest independent comic book able to survive beyond the Big Two companies, which wasn't a small achievement back then. It became a satire of nearly anything Dave Sim could use, include British/Canadian government as well as his eroding relationships. It's in black and white. It's not for everyone. But the crosshatching technique by background artist Gerhard is unparalleled.

(I learned how to add texture by mimicking Gerhard's style. You can pick it up really easily and be wowed with the dimensionality you can muster with the accumulation of tiny little lines.)
that's pretty cool. i have the first cerebus collection, and i enjoyed it a lot. seemed like a daunting task to get into the series with so much more to go though, so i didn't continue with it.

Have you read Neil Gaiman's Miracleman stories? Is it worth continuing the series after Moore's run?

That's really hard to answer :)

It's not exactly the same comic after Gaiman takes over because a lot of the playing around with the comic form that Moore was doing is no longer there.

On the other hand, Gaiman's issue are possibly steeped even more in mythology. I've been following the reissue and found that I remembered the Moore issues much better than the Gaiman ones (possibly because they were more plot heavy), but Gaiman's are still excellent and the artwork is simply gorgeous. They also include tons of behind the scenes artwork and commentary.

With all the characters being recreated today (Chinese Superman, female Iron Man, Etc.) I thought I would suggest a comic called Superman : Red Son. http://www.readcomics.net/comic/superman-red-son It is a one shot written by Mark Millar and its about if Superman landed and was raised in the Soviet Union instead of USA. It's one of my favorites. DC used to have an Elseworlds publication that focused on stories outside the normal DC canon and this is one of there last comics before it was shut down

I just started reading LOW by Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini. It's about futuristic life underwater, but it's really about surviving a low perspective. I appreciate the thematic strength and have always enjoyed Tocchini's sense of composition and color. Very painterly, but sometimes narrative is a little cloudy. I've only read the first issue. I don't know why it's taken me so long to get around to it.

The other thing I was RASL by Jeff Smith, who did BONE. It's a little by-the-numbers, no-surprises -- but I am a big fan of his magnum opus and wanted to see what else he can do. He's good with moments. Pacing out human drama.
the art on low seems interesting. tocchini ever do any crime comics?
