That's what I read.

And Death of the Family is highly praised but I found it to be "good" at best.

It's funny what a train wreck DC is. It's most highly touted book isn't even that great.

I really miss pre flashpoint DC.

How they ruined their universe is crazy to me. To the point I stopped collecting them all together. I was into some of their new 52 titles like Earth2 and Green Lantern and Flash but I don't buy anything from them anymore.

They need to just go back to pre flashpoint like the fans want.

DC is really big with crossovers. They had Forever Evil and now it's Convergence. I don't read those either.

My favorite Batman Snyder story was actually a Clayface 2 parter. When he doesn't try too hard to top his previous arc, it flows better.

How would I go about "finding" some Indie/non-marvel comics.

Look up writers (and artists) you like. There's a good chance they have creator owned titles. Image.com is the largest indie creator owned company and Vertigocomics.com is DC's creator owned imprint. There are also smaller publishers like Avatar Press, Dynamite, Dark Horse, IDW.

I just haven't been impressed by the DC 52. Sure there's been some good stories but it wasn't worth it I don't think.

I loved the old DC pre flashpoint. So many great stories

DC new 52, did some good things, especially to boost the comic book exposure at that time and it's been pretty steady ever since

I have not been keeping up with a lot of the titles, but I will forever cherish my Lemiere's Animal Man run, Azzarrelo's Wonder Woman run, Snyder's Swamp Thing run, Lemiere's Green Arrow run, and Manapul/Buccellato's Flash run

New Secret Wars issue is pretty good. Characters dying & all. Black pages with single line texts are fillers though & annoying. The art is fucking mint though.

I just finished "Y: The Last Man".

Holy moly this might be the best comic I've ever read.

Esad Ribic's art was the reason I loved Thor:GoT so much. I hope he's aboard for the whole main story. Marvel has shown a history of switching artists during a run.

So has anyone read the final issues of New Avengers and Avengers leading into Secret Wars, with the "TIME RUNS OUT" banner on them..

Holy crap, 3 years of story telling led up to these final 2 issues than into Secret Wars..

A lot to take in and a lot of it is still fairly confusing...

We finally see the last 2 remaining Earths incursion happen, between the Ultimate Universe and the proper 616 Marvel universe.

Ultimate Universe get pissed on like its nothing but durin their battle both Earths are decimated during the incursion and only a small number of the heroes survive.

Evil Ultiamte Reed plays a huge roll like he was being set up to play, actually both Reeds play very important roles to this story...

What im not understanding is this and perhaps someone can explain to me what EXACTLY happened. Why couldt one of the earths be destroyed leaving both universes intact but with one earth wiped from existence.

Also we see the importance the Molecule Man has played in Dooms role as Rabum Alal The Great Destroyer. molecule Man turns out to exist as the same entity in every universe and once when killed the entire universe is destroyed. Hence why Doom was killing them off and creating incursions to slowly weaken the multiverse from the power of the Beyonders.

The story sounds confusing and it really is a bit much to grasp. We find out a lot and we find out the Beyonders do have one weakness, and that is theyre linear and cannot travel back in time to change the order of things. And that is exactly what DOOM tried doing. but as we see at the end of New Avengers Doom, Dr. Strange and Molecule Mans plans blow up in their face and they are overtaken by the Beyonders, or at least that's what one is supposed to believe.

Also Hickman and Axel Alonso have said Secret Wars #2 is one of the most important, if no the biggest issue of this series..

The variant cover features Mister Sinister in case anyone was interested..

I like where this might be going. Now.

Rama have you finished reading all the NA and Avengers titles leading into Secret Wars...

Secret Wars 1 was very good also, and in truth both universes did die.. Now of course a lot of the heroes were saved and well be seeing more and more of them as the issues continue but as Hickman has said issue 2 is one of the most important comics hes written for Marvel to date..

I read SW1.

I don't know if I read the last Avengers tie it or not.
The last thing I remember was Strange pulling back the curtain only to have Doom standing there.

I think perhaps u missed two issues of each..

Rama what are u waiting for dude, u stuck with this the entire time u might as well get the full story and try and "piece" it all together...

The last issue of both Avengers and New Avengers is awesome. Theyre both oversized but at $5. No big deal since there is a lot of content.

Everything is put on the table here, from way back to Rogue Planet (the importance of that planet now), to when Tony created Sol's Hammer (a dyson speher) back in New Avengers issue 4. Just so much unfolding all at once.

Than there is New Avengers which settles that end of the story. Still scratching my head about some things though..

Please read them Rama to discuss lol

I'll find out what I missed and get back to you

Been mowing through books this month, sitting in line for AoU for 5 hours helped.

- Atlantis Rising: A Namor/F4/Inhumans/Thor collection. I had wondered why Attilan was on Atlantis during Paul Jenkins series and this comic shows that story of them leaving the moon and coming back to Earth. Referenced the bottled city of Kandor during it.
- Inhumans Right of Birth: The book that helped me complete my arc for Inhuman movie ideas. Genetic Council be praised. Solid book with more Inhuman history than the origin book had.
- Inhumans Axis: Got some Black Bolt and Maximus chicanery as the issues highlight. Reader is Han Solo. Medusa is suddenly evil...why?! Continue below.
- AXIS: Thanks to the wise decision to have Scarlet Witch & Dr Doom cast a spell together the heroes are villains, villains are heroes, dogs and cats living together. MASS HYSTERIA!
- Runaways 3: Was alot more tie-in based than following the main story which lead this to be the weakest of the collections. The final collection will be out during the summer. Hyped to see how it ends.
- Ms Marvel Generation Why: Ms Marvel concludes her battle with the Inventor and his minions...for now and puts together her own crew of runaways...runaways for everyone.
- The Authority 1 & 2: Enjoyed the first book more via superior art and since it is all written and drawn by the same guys it doesn't feel as disjointed as the 2nd one. Was hoping the new team would take over in the 2nd one then Millar returned and put an end to that.
- Trees: Aliens having dropped some strange structures across the Earth. Story follows people from all over the world in all walks of life as they adapt to the new world.
- Nemesis: Quick read where Moon Knight is a crazed cop killer, pretty much Moon Knight after a bender.
- Hickman's Avengers 1-13 & New Avengers 1-6: Avengers starts with the 6 members from the movies being brought down and a new team coming together to help them. Most the book was learning about new members to the team. Favorite part was the end with Head Master Hyperion running his school with his wacky teaching staff. New Avengers was plenty of fun and is a less head scratching version of what Grant Morrison does with time/space stuff.

Up next is Infinity.

Anyone have an opinion on who the female Thor is?

Is it Jane Foster?

If so, how fucking stupid.
