Did a good amount reading over this past month.

- Started on the DL recommended Mighty Thor run, read the 1st volume going from 337-344. Surtur with a DBZ length sword building. Loki, Lorelei & Malekith are up to no good, starting trouble in Thor's neighborhood. Beta Ray Bill makes his debut as a dirty hammer thief. Guest appearance by Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
- Read the Kesel run on Harley Quinn (3 books) in anticipation of the 2nd collection of Gotham City Sirens getting released. Had a couple ideas that would have been fun going more than a issue (Harley as Batgirl, Harley & Jimmy Olsen) but what can you do.
- Read the first two collections of the Runaways. This was great can't wait for the 3rd. When even the characters I want to die meet their end in acceptable fashion you have a winner. Also keeps you on your toes with the mole storyline.
- Last but not least was the first trade for Inhuman's: Genesis. Attilan is destroyed meaning the Inhumans and Nuhumans have to work together with normal folks and the Avengers to get on with life. The Reader saves a Chinese girl from the government...huh, sounds familiar.

Started Atlantis Rising today, a Namor/F4/Inhumans/Thor collection. It just referenced the bottled city of Kandor.

THE DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE Officially Announced

dk3-133243.jpg

Frank Miller and DC Entertainment have officially unveiled The Dark Knight III: The Master Race, the third and final installment of Miller’s seminal Dark Knight trilogy of Batman graphic novels.

Miller helped revolutionize comics in 1986 with The Dark Knight Returns, a tale of a much older Batman coming out of retirement, which now serves as the inspiration for much of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and helped redefine the character of Batman for decades to come. The more controversial sequel, The Dark Knight Strikes Again, followed 15 years later.

Miller will co-write the 8-issue miniseries with Brian Azarello (Wonder Woman, 100 Bullets). The series will ship twice monthly. Artists for the series have not been announced.

“Batman remains my favorite comic book hero and a sequel to Dark Knight is going to be daunting," said Miller in a press release, "but we’ll do our best.”

“We are thrilled to have Frank back home at DC writing Batman,” according to Dan DiDio and Jim Lee, Co-Publishers for DC Entertainment. “The story he and Brian have crafted is an astounding and triumphant conclusion to this seminal body of work which influenced and shaped generations of readers and creators alike.”

According to Azzarello, “It's been an amazing experience collaborating with Frank these past six months. I think we have an epic story that these characters truly deserve.”

The Dark Knight III: The Master Race will release this fall.

I'm currently organizing and eventually unloading 25 years worth of comics. In doing so, I've noticed that I have a few 1-2 issue gaps in some series/runs. Anybody have any experience in finding single issues from distributors, etc? Just sinking in that, if you miss one issue in five years, then you lose a lot of value as buyer/sellers want uninterrupted runs in general.

Thanks in advance.

Nameless 3 came out. Very interesting. Has a event horizon feel to it

I've become obsessed with Daredevil.

I never thought much of him and had never read any of his comics (the movie certainly didn't help). Then I heard they were making the show and I thought I'd give it a try. I figured I'd trya few "must-reads" to prepare myself. Reviews started pouring in saying the show was supposed to be pretty good, which fueled my interest in some preparation comics.

I started around 2 weeks ago with the "Born Again" arc as that was listed here and other places as a hugely popular comic.

And well now I have read around 150+ DD comics...

I'm up into the Shadowland arc. I'm going to continue all the way through to whatever is the most current issue available on MU.

I can't believe I counted DD out. The Miller, Bendis and Brubaker runs were incredible. DD has become one of my favorite characters.

Did you read ELEKTRA LIVES AGAIN and ELEKTRA ASSASSIN? MAN WITHOUT FEAR?

I've read Man Without Fear. That was the second thing I read after Born Again.

I haven't read any solo Elektra stuff, doesn't interest me as much as Daredevil.

Why you little ...

LIVES AGAIN is all about Daredevil. It's got boobies! Plus it's the ONLY time Frank Miller wrote, penciled, AND inked for this particular mythos. Lynn Varley on colors. It's awesome. (There might be a WHAT IF story he did mostly be himself, but it's nowhere near LIVES AGAIN level artwork.)

ASSASSIN has nearly zero Daredevil, but goddamn you anyway!

Haha. I like to use http://www.comicbookherald.com to find the reading orders for characters and arcs and they didn't mention either of those for DD so I didn't have the opportunity to turn them down. Though there was 2 Elektra arcs included that I turned down so.......

I'm in the same boat. I got huge into DD a few months ago after reading a few free issues from the Marvel app.

Bought the first volume of Saga. Have to say, I'm quite impressed. I've really enjoyed getting into non-traditional(superhero comics) the last few years. This, American Vampire and Locke and Key have been game changers for me.

If you want a more modern take on DareDevil Bendis run straight into Brubakers run is pretty hard to beat.

Even after that Andy Diggle does a great job up until Shadowland. And than Mark Waid has been doing a fantastic job on the series as well

And Bendis Daredevil:End of Days is also excellent.

So in honor of the Daredevil Netflix series coming out on Friday, I figured I'd try to read a few of the big Daredevil stories in anticipation. Previously I had only read Daredevil #1.

So I started with this:

Holy crap. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Daredevil never much appealed to me before but this comic is a masterpiece. It's absolutely crazy and very dark, much darker then I expected going in. Definitely one of the more memorable comic arcs I've ever read.

Can anyone recommend any other "must-read" Daredevil arcs?

Glad you liked Born Again.

Here are some DD arcs you might be interested. None of them reach Born Again heights but still good.

Essential Reading Guide to DAREDEVIL Comic Books

Daredevil-Born-Again-600x200-Dragonlord.jpg

Daredevil: Man Without Fear - The definitive Daredevil Origin by Frank Miller and John Romita Jr.

Daredevil: Frank Miller & Klaus Janson Vol. 1-3 - Miller's outstanding run that changed the comic book landscape and served as a precursor to The Dark Knight Returns.

Daredevil: Born Again - This is a must-own for any comic book fan. GOAT Daredevil graphic novel.

The above titles should suffice in your introduction to Daredevil in chronological order. Born Again is a MUST-READ!!! GOAT Daredevil story. If you still want more reading materials, then proceed below (also in chronological order).

Daredevil: Guardian Devil - 8 issue story by Kevin Smith.

Daredevil: Yellow - Loeb and Sale, The team that brought you The Long Halloween, Hulk: Gray, Spider-Man Blue, Dark Victory. This tells you you should read this.

Daredevil: Bendis & Maleev Ultimate Collection Vol. 1-3 - Bendis highly acclaimed run, Outstanding Maleev art with gripping story telling.

Daredevil: Ed Brubaker Ultimate Collection Vol. 1-3 - Another outstanding Daredevil run, Like Bendis run you have to read this.

Daredevil: Mark Waid Vol. 1-Current - Waid's Daredevil has received high praise and rightly so.

Edit: Ditto with TGF's suggestion about ELEKTRA: ASSASSIN. One of my favorite works from Frank Miller and Bill Sienkiewicz.

2nd Edit: Just read that you already caught up with most of the DD books.

Y'all ain't backing me up on ELEKTRA LIVES AGAIN?!

Major Batman story next week. They only delayed it for about 6 weeks.

I don't know what all the hoopla is about batman.

The book hasn't been that good in a long time. The hipsters love Snyder the way they love Nolan.

I said it a million times Barman has been done much better. Morrison and Dini to name two more recent writers.
