College Hoops 2024-2025 Thread (UConn Back 2 Back)

Why not Rutgers? I like when talent tries to start up a dynasty at a new school instead of the usual suspects.

As a Big Ten grad, I have no disrespect against Rutgers or the state of NJ; it’s just unusual for highly coveted players to go to a mid-level program like that. Just out of left field.

I mean it's not unusual at all in college basketball, especially if you follow the AAU circuit.

How do you think UConn and Gonzaga became national powers? All it takes are a couple highly touted recruits, some hidden gems and a good coach.

Yeah but UConn and Gonzaga are outliers. There are 350 D1 programs. For every UConn or Gonzaga, there are hundreds of programs that perpetually go nowhere.

Harper and his teammate going to Rutgers reminds me of Ben Simmons going to LSU

What a a crazy state for a great coach like Pearl - Auburn has lost 28 straight road games against ranked teams.

Holy dookie! That is pretty shocking. Wild that #1 and #2 both lost last night. I totally forgot about the Auburn vs Duke game too last night. 🤦‍♂️

haven't been watching college ball as much but Ive now seen my UCLA bruins play twice including last game vs Washington. They are 7-1 although they haven't played anyone of note yet with the loss coming in early game vs New Mexico. That all changes starting tomorrow though when they play #12 Oregon. they then will play non conference games vs Arizona, UNC and Gonzaga next couple weeks. So we will get to see who Bruins are for sure soon. Currently they have the #1 rated defense in the country, and its not really close. They have a deep squad, play 10 guys and no one averages more than 25 minutes a game. Lots of transfers. Their top 2 scorers are PF Tyler Bilodeau who played last year at Oregon State and Eric Daily who played last year for Oklahoma State.

Speaking of UCLA, several weeks ago in the world’s largest Starbucks here on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago, my buddy approached a woman and Johnny Juzang walked over and told him to leave (it was his girlfriend) lol. I immediately thought “that looks like Johnny Juzang,” looked him up on Google and it said his team (the Blazers) were just in town at the Bulls 2 days prior, so it def was him.

Nice! yeah he was 2 way g league player last couple years but then just signed a 4 year deal with the jazz this past offseason and is getting minutes

Great for him to lock in millions over the next 4 years!

Also major kudos to Mark Pope from BYU. Many questioned Kentucky hiring him, and while it’s obviously extremely early in his tenure, he has done a fantastic job thus far.

They were barely ranked in the top 25 kicking off the season. Now they’re probably gonna check in at #2 when the new polls come out tomorrow.

They beat Gonzaga in what was essentially a road game (Seattle), despite their 2 top PGs being injured.

The weekend wasn’t a total loss. My UConn Huskies reminded the Bulldogs who has more of that dog in them. Hopefully the boys can string together a nice conference run into March.

Also great not having to hear about USC and Bronny James average ass every newscast.

UConn also about to beat Xavier in OT. Been a pretty damn good stretch since that Maui debacle

RIP Greg Gumbel. Pour one out for him on selection sunday.

ucla takes down Zaga! down to the wire. After we got boned by the refs last weekend vs UNC, we needed this win big time.

Adam Morrison was in attendance too, I bet he cried again. <lmao>
