He's busy trying to get paid.

Masvidal in court. Currently +1000 to win by decision.

This.

If he has absolutely ANY hope of trying to win the court case for "brain damage" caused by Jorge, then he won't fight, as they already have to convince the judge/jury that he didn't have previous brain damage from previous fights & fight preparation, and if he gets another fight, then the "brain damage" wasn't debilitating enough to prevent him from continuing to work besides maybe a year or so.

So it's either a chance to win a years worth of monetary gain, or a possible huge settlement instead, and then attempt to continue fighting after that (depending on the monetary value & time it takes to settle court).

I'm not expected to see Colby in UFC/MMA for years, especially after x2 losses for belt already, so extremely unlikely to get another shot.

I don’t expect to see him soon, but I’d love to watch him fight against Burns.

Burns is 5-2 at WW, Colby is 5-2 in his last 7 at WW.

Burns’s wins against names are Maia, Gunnar Nelson, Woodley and Wonderboy. Colby’s wins against names are Maia, RDA, Lawler, Woodley and Masvidal. Pretty similar resumes. Colby’s losses are against Usman, Burns’s losses at WW are against Usman and Khamzat.

Burns is 36 years old, so that’s around the age Colby likes for his opponents.

Khamzat. Let Colby play title gatekeeper. For those saying Wonderboy, it makes zero sense. Wonderboy doesn’t want to fight wrestlers anymore, anyway.

If Khamzat goes up to 185 or is booked, I think Colby vs winner of Belal/Brady, or Colby vs Burns. He only needs 1 good win, and he's back at the title.

Who should he fight next?

Rematch with Usman or Jorge?

Shot at the title?

Nate Diaz or Conor McGregor novelty fight?

I have not heard about the guy. He won his last fight but the incident has overshadowed his victory in a major way. He is still a great fighter and should have already been back by now.

Burns (or Chimaev if he does 170 again) makes the most sense to me or perhaps the Brady-Belal winner.

He has some tough matchups on the horizon. He should pick wisely
