He wanted to be able to return them after. Not even kidding! He forgot his gear in his hotel so he had to buy new stuff and just wanted to use it once and return it!
 
He retired for a few months and then fought in Russia, a 170lb tourny and probs a few other fights.

It's crazy he decided to do that over a few dollars and got himself fired over it. And even with the issues with pay back then Cody did ok for himself and I know he won two post-fight bonuses.

He was killing it compared to what he had been fighting for. And was becoming a bit of a fan favorite too. And people even started emulating that choke of his. I'm sure he could have stuck around awhile longer had it not been for that.

It's not often you see someone fuck themselves over that bad let alone over a few dollars.

That damn Herb Dean ruined it by ripping off the tag. At best, he could have maybe gotten store credit if he made a fuss.

The reason he wore those shorts he addressed on his twitter is because no one sponsored him and that he really liked the shorts. He said it's about the fight not fashion. thats what he said on twitter

I don't know. Once fighters get way out of shape and stop training seriously, it's rare to see them change their ways. With the McKenzietine and a decent commitment to the sport, he should do pretty well in smaller orgs. However, he's definitely lacking the latter part.

btw I love mckenzie I think he is such a nice dude. Dedicated his life to the sport, lived in vans and in the back of gyms just to train, doesnt get any more real than that. I wonder what happened to him and ronda they were super buddy buddy for a while.

Was always a fan, But I don't like him at 170 or even 155. He looks fat at those weights which is unreal for a 6'0 fighter haha. I have faith the Mckenzietine makes a comeback.

Yea. I just didnt think he would still be fighting. He made a big soeech about how bad the money was, the promoters ect ect. Yet here he is, doing it again.
 
Venator got all the controversial / oddball dudes. Mayhem not available? No prob - get Palhares and Cody. Yvel retired? Get Mike Kyle and Olaf Alonso.
