I can respect Jake for saying what he wants and feels despite the potential backlash, but man, having listened to him more recently, he's kind of an example of the dangers when someone of limited intelligence gets too into these issues.
He has zero humility, he is convinced already in advance that he's 100% correct about every issue he brings up. He almost never asks questions of his guests, he just waits for his moment to talk and then rapid fire spews out all these various "fun facts" that he's read about, usually with no attention to detail or nuance, or even completely inaccurate, but does so with the supreme confidence that only someone too dumb to understand why he should be humble can do. Since he only brings on guests that are aligned with him, they never push back whatsoever.
He never goes into more than surface level detail or have a back and forth conversation to explore the issue with any perspective outside of his own. He truly reminds me of a edgelord teenager. I can understand a young person being like this, it's quite common and a part of the maturation process, but he's 46.
He also likes to live in an echo chamber and doesn't dare interact with any opposing viewpoints on issues he's passionate about because he can't even fathom the notion that he may not be righteous about all of his confirmation bias research that he's done, where he is already at the conclusion then works backwards to try to support it. I know all about that because I used to do the same shit back in the day and think I was a super genius for having such good gut instincts....
But yeah it's hard to respect him unless he can find the humility and courage to start interacting with opposing viewpoints and develop any modicum of intellectual curiosity.
