New York rent is a killer right (edit: actually their place looks outer suburban at least)? Doesn't surprise me. Along with essentially everyone I know in my area I moved out at 18 (a few younger, but their parents had to sign off on them being unable to live in the same house), but as housing prices/rent has gone up that age has been increasing. Still, nothing like friends from Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore who apparently had no intention of moving out as young adults (little wonder they were sent to university in Australia).

I suppose I meant that anything such a person has to say ought to be ignored, while any attention they do receive should be in the form of being used as an example of what not to be.

I don't think every basement dwelling adult ought to be shamed. I moved out of my father's house when I was sixteen, moved back in a few years later, and stayed there until age 24. It was one of the better decisions I made at that time, both financially and in terms of my relationship with my folks. I was also working a fulltime day job and moonlighting at a restaurant.

But suing your parents so you can stay in their house at age 30? Fuck this guy.
