We're talking a guy in his late 30s with not much of an athletic background fighting on the biggest stage in MMA.

Possibly but not plausible...guys with 10+ fights get octagon jitters. What about a guy making his pro/amateur debut? CM Punk has experience with crowds but this is a bit different...no blood capsules or whatever here.

This was probably his first sparring match. At the end he says, "I stuffed one take down." Like even he was surprised. My first sparring match I was happy to just land one punch.
