CM Punk is actually alright.

All I have ever heard him say is that he has wanted to try his hand in mma for the longest time. Lorenzo asked him if he ever thought about getting in the cage and he said hell yes I thought about it. So he basically was given the opportunity to try mma in the best possible arena, so he took it.

Maybe I have missed the interviews where he says he doesn't care about the money or fame part. But beyond that I think most people who were given the same opportunity he was given would not turn it down to go and fight in a smaller organization. I feel the people who would turn it down would do it out of fear of making a fool of themselves. If anything the dude has a serious set of balls.

I don't buy that. Trying MMA in best possible arena has a meaning when you are fighting the best. He is fighting same guy he would fight in regional scene so I don't see whats best there? He is essentially bringing regional MMA to UFC just because he is scared to actually face legit fighters.

You said it yourself here, he wants the biggest organization - biggest STAGE. Its a stage, he wants eyes on him. While he might want to fight its super important for him to be seen by a lot of people. Probably because he is delusional and thinks he can actually win.

I'm just saying if he really wanted just to fight and had any respect for fighters who put years of effort to make it to the UFC, he would fight at regional scene. Or at least smaller show like RFA, WSOF or something like that.

I hope he starches mickey gall. Just to send the mma world i to a tail spin like when conor got talled out.

I have never seen him in WWE. Before he signed with the UFC I only knew him as that pro wrestler who was on the "Talking Dead" a few times.

He always seemed like a nice enough guy on there and he seemed pretty down to earth. I have nothing bad to say about him. But having said that I really don't give a rat's ass whether he wins or loses this fight.

Can't stand him

I think you're more mad at his comment that he can't understand why certain MMA fans and journalists are so invested in hating on him and what he's trying to do.

Cause it certainly seems like you fall into that category.

He just rubs me the wrong way. He shouldn't be fighting in the UFC to begin with.

He then calls other pro fighters tomato cans and talks down to reporters who ask him legit questions. I hope he gets his ass whooped. The guy seems like a massive prick imo

Yeah agreed, he is a cool guy and entertaining

He is a showman, obviously he thrives under being in front of large audiences. I just don't have any problem with him putting in the work to become famous in one arena and having that transfer to another arena. The main person who may suffer from that decision is himself. He may get destroyed in front of millions of viewers.
If someone like gsp wanted to go into WWE I wouldn't expect him to go see tiny pro wrestling organization. In fact I would think it was silly for him to do so.
Ultimately like it annoys you that you think he is claiming to only do it for fighting, I am annoyed by all these mma fans who are all butt hurt because "he never put in his dues and worked his way up". I think it's more these people are haters that can't stand when people have success(money, fame etc). It never ceases to amaze me that some fucking nobody thinks that a celebrity has to win them over, impress or appease them in any way.

I thought he was pretty funny in one interview I saw, trashing Gall in a subtle deadpan way.

Don't you always hate on WMMA? But you're okay with an actor just walking right into the UFC? Boooooo.

If i was a 180 pound man and Sergio Pettis kicked my ass every day in the gym I would reconsider.
