CM Punk First "Pro" UFC photoshoot

I really hope they match him up with a total can, or another pro wrestler. I don't wanna see him die in there.

was he on roids in WWE?

cus he looks like shit in the picture. i dont get how you can look like that when you have supposedly eating/training/living MMA for almost a year...

does anyone got any buff pics of him?

Is he supposed to look intimidating? Looks cringe-worthy.

Poor guy is taking on one o the scarier things you can do in sports.... and everyone is giving him shit. I assume it's due to people being super insecure about their past enjoyment of wrestling.
no it's really just about the fact that UFC is supposed to be this "The NFL/NBA of MMA" and yet they let in a guy with no experience. That's a problem

and yes I'm a huge Brock fan but at least he had to come in and fight Frank Mir right off the bat.. (and even then, he didn't deserve that, I have no problem admitting that)

Physically he does not look like a fighter yet. We'll see in a few more months.

For the record I approve of what he's doing. As fans we will learn a lot from this experiment. We will see how far you can take a total novice when you give him elite coaching combined with a tonne of 1 on 1 attention in a short period of time.

it'd be way more interesting (in that experimental sort of way) if it was done with someone who was around 22-25 and in great athletic shape

instead of a 37 year old who's body is all worn out from being a stunt man his whole life

I'm going to laugh so hard if the AC won't license him. With 0 fights ever I wouldn't be surprised if they denied him a license. If they give him a license, is that not clearly corruption? lol

one AC already said his licence will depend entirely on the experience of his opponent and whether or not they think the match can be competitive.

So don't expect him to get put in with any real UFC fighters. They'll have to bring in some local guy with not many fights

Honestly you people need to realise that the 'lower' guys in the UFC aren't as good as you think they are. Punk will do fine in the UFC. By fine I mean he isn't going to get embarrassed, as much as you guys would love him to.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about there, bud.

There's low level fighting outside of the UFC (like bars that set up rings and have mma matches) the best of the best of those guys go on to regional shows (no not bellator but stuff like....Bama brawl! or some really local stuff like that) and the best of the best of that end up in the "bigger" of the smaller stuff like WSOF/Shark fights

and then better of those guys end up in bellator

and then.. and only then does someone end up in the UFC.

So 9 times out of 10 the worst guy in the UFC is some guy who was a champion or #1 contender in some regional show.

In other words, the UFC is legitly the best 1% of the thousands upon thousands of MMA fighters out there.

Someone you see get completely dominated in the UFC, can turn around and dominate some of the best regional guys out there

and CM Punk isn't even on the regional level

edit: and of course the scale gets even more complicated when you look inside the UFC... like the difference between the bottom UFC guys and mid guys is generally pretty huge, and the difference between the middle guys and the top 15 guys is huge and the difference between top 15 and top 10 and top 10 and top 5, and top 5 and #1 contender, and #1 contender vs the champion (especially if it's a really dominant guy)

This is why you see fights like Machida vs Dollaway, where despite the fact that C.B. proved he could beat some decent middle guys, when facing a top 3 guy like Machida he doesn't last 30 seconds

Yeah, prob a local getting paid 5k, with all the money to be made by punk winning it will be hard for it not to be corrupt but we'll see, hopefully not another kimbo/alexander abortion

lol he has a hella feminin body... and a pencil neck..

LOL, If a good chunk of us had the money to go train at roufus and get a free ticket to fight at the UFC after 2 years of training, we'd all do it.
Exactly. Give me $1000 and I'll fight overeem. Let alone a couple of mill.

This is kinda like when a UFC newcomer doesn't have a HL reel to show just before his bout and the UFC shows him punching the air and crossing his arms for about fifteen seconds while Goldie talks about his record. It's totally normal and even more so for someone who has a name before coming into the org.

Y'all sound jelly as fuck.

i lol'd at the perfect explanation of the "no fight highlight reel"

usually in a dark room with one lightsource, water spraying in the background

he looks like a person who doesn't know how to fight

I still think this whole thing might just be some kind of April Fool's joke or something.

Maybe the UFC just paid him to pretend he's going to fight, to get the publicity?

I'll bet a few dollars he gets 'injured' before his first fight.

I've been saying this. Non stop. He will never fight in the UFC. I even gave a timeline for his injury. He'll be injured around the end of summer and out until 2016. In 2016 he'll announce his retirement or get injured again (which will lead to a delayed retirement announcement).

It was a publicity stunt. Nothing more.
