Yeah, the point is kinda moot, but that was not my original basis for my argument. My original basis was responding to a guy who said Punk ruined his image. I said, what Image? He was never a tough guy, hell he wasn't even a great wrestler. What makes you think he was going to turn into this tough dude in mma? I wanted him to succeed there, but I knew he wasn't the most athletic or the most technical. What we got is kinda what we expected. It was just wishful thinking to think otherwise.
If you want to say Punk is a great wrestler because he has "It" and is a decent promo, then by all means.
But I was just addressing the initial point made by another poster saying he ruined his image. I don't think he did. I don't think he was ever a tough guy, I don't think people saw him as that. He's more of a rebel, moody, straight edge guy. Basically, he's a modern hipster. Not saying that disparaging the guy, but he was an alternative and people loved him for that. Same with bryan who also was an alternative. He had an ecofriendly championship belt for God sakes lol.
CM Punk is more Kurt Cobain than he is say, Idk Cub Swanson. That's fine. Both are cool. He's a performer, not a fighter. His lane isn't fighting and never should have been, so how can that be held against him? I don't' think it can.
