Classic Doom 1 & 2 chat

@6:22 - there's a limited time he hold's his breath for. It's built into the game, changing it would require coding.
@8:08- you missed the chainsaw, it's in a secret in that first underwater section on a side tunnel.
@11:35- the texture is different.
@17:48- oh shit, that's not supposed to happen. Time to add a blocking flag on the stalagmites so you can't run up them.
@23:35- nah, you just managed to walk past it three or four times lol. The maze is static, it doesn't change.
@28:28- ha! I'm so glad you got it. It was a subtle little joke: dude was taking a smoke break in the supply closet.
@29:52- it's the other marine's you dropped in with that got captured.
@33:40- it's just announcing the boss door opening in case you aren't looking at it when it starts
@37:49- awww, follow the flares back to extraction...oh well you got it in the end.

Thanks for the playthrough!

No problem man I had a fun time and will definitely play more your maps

That Baron of Hell teleporter section got me haha

also I was happy when I freed those guys from their little jail cells or whatever

but then I felt bad when I found their corpses down the road cuz I was too busy slacking off to help them

It was fun while it lasted, but I give up. This last level went nowhere and unless I get a flash of inspiration I don't think I'll be making any more levels. This one was supposed to be an ambient survival-horror themed level (limited ammo, limited weapons, running away being a necessity in some situations) but I just couldn't come up with anything compelling. Here's where I gave up, if anybody feels like playing through 5-min of a failed map. It's got some cool effects and what's there is fully playable, but it's not a real level. Note: the axe has a charge attack, if you hold the button it gets stronger (no, I didn't make it from scratch it's a weapon I dl'ed from realm667 and then altered to work more how I wanted).

I tried it with different music, ended up killing the atmosphere I was going for. The secret's over in the blood pool, got to swim down to a hidden room with a green armor. The timing on the axe is a little wonky due to the windup, usually best to just hold the charge and release the click when you want to attack (full charge will kill a pinky in one hit). The button right before the exit triggers a crusher that you can use to kill the knight without having to attack him. The fireballs were also meant to be a potential way to kill the pinky/imps without spending ammo by luring them down the steps and then activating the fireballs to weaken/kill them.

Thanks for playing it even though it wasn't a finished level.

After giving it some thought I decided to take a second crack at this telling myself I'd be happy with anything as long as it was finished. So, it's not going to win any awards, but it is a full level this time around. Notes:

-It's survival horror, so there is limited ammo, limited health, and you're limited to holding 60 bullets and 20 shells. Use traps and infighting to your advantage.
-No jumping please, it can break the puzzle.
-Speaking of the puzzle, there is a simple solution that will let you get to the other side. If you're stuck whacking buttons and it's just not working then smash the reset switch and try again from a clean slate.
-The best way to use the axe is to hold the fire button until it is pulled back and then time your attack by releasing fire. This helps you manage the awkward timing of the windup that's so noticeable if you just click once and wait for the animation to play. Also, the longer you hold the more powerful it is with a full charge killing a pinky in one shot.
