Chuck Liddell wouldn't even rank today

Lol he beat Chuck by outstriking him and surprising him. He was on the offence with punches, which threw Liddell off. Randy is certainly not as good of a wrestler as DC< but I believe better at gameplanning. He also threatened with submissions, which we havent seen from DC yet

Remember this whole thing is Prime Chuck, so what ever Jardine did to him would work since Jardine did it to him after he was past his prime thus he would have no recollection of it ever happening. Also DC has three arms in this scenario... Now go!

I know how much you love being a contrarian, and normally I like reading your opinion. But on the topic of Liddell you've consistently been completely bonkers.

The speed you can argue but the power :icon_neut We all know Chuck had pillow hands... LOL but seriously I don't think anyone can objectively say Chuck didn't have power.

Yeah, I agree. I certainly don't think he had speed on the level of someone like Vitor. But he was generally throwing 1 or 2 shots at a time and not flurries. When he lit up Tito in the first fight he showed some pretty impressive hand speed.

Chuck does not have fast hands or exceptional power, not enough to make a dent in today's game. Nowhere near the hand speed or boxing of Vitor. lol. fucking please.

Glover would take Chuck down and have his way with them. And have little threat from his standing. Rampage destroyed Chuck twice. Chuck had NOTHING for Rampage in his prime. And Glover has a slick ground game. Chuck would be subbed. He would be helpless.

After being outstruck by Liddell for 2 rounds, Belfort decided to try one of his flurries in the third

That would be like saying Royce Gracie didn't have submission skills. Yeah Hughes outgrappled him, but questioning if he had submissions is the same as questioning if Liddell had power

Thanks. I was gonna do it in words but that GIF is worth a 1000000.

Ko'd Randy when it mattered.

Tito when it mattered.

Chuck isnt overrated just because he chose to throw quick loopers instead of being "technical".

Exactly. Closest Vitor was able to do was cut Randy's eyelid. Everyone will say how much better Belfort's striking is, but if you watch the fight he is clearly outstruck each and every round

Prime Chuck was also Vale Tudo Chuck. I don't know . . . In the LHW division and up outside of Jones I haven't seen too much evolution in the sport honestly.

It's the same in every sport. Older gen fighters would be disadvantaged against the pros of today but that doesn't prove that they would get owned. Chuck could beat lots of modern fighters imo

A prime Chuck probably wouldn't break the top 5 at LHW right now. I think hes around Glover's skill level. I can't imagine a prime Chuck beating DC, Jones, Rumble, or Gus.

I never understand why folks need to rip on a legend like Liddell. It's a different era, a different sport now. This insatiable need to compare fighters of old to today's landscape is ridiculous.

Is it so hard to appreciate what he did accomplish and the entertainment he provided us?

Hard to admit because I loved watching Chuck fight, but really he was just a tough bro who banged. Striking has evolved now to the point where every ranked fighter would watch tape on him, pick and angle to step away from the overhand right and then take out Chuck's chin, even in Chuck's prime.

Watching Firas's video of how Rory picked apart Woodley demonstrated how far striking in this sport has come. It's almost on par with boxing now.

I'm usually very respectful, however, at this time I have to step up and state that you sound very very dumb

Jones
Gus
Dc
Maybe glover
Chuck
Rank no lower than #5

Jones, Gus, DC, Glover, Rashad, Shogun, Hendo, Johnson, and Bader all destroy Chuck. Utterly destroy him.

His technique was far too poor.. throwing punches with his chin fully exposed.

This is why I hate MMA fans(well there are many other reasons but this is one). The sport has evolved SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much that Mark Hunt is top 10 at 40 years of age. It's evolved so much that Robbie Lawler is fighting for a title again. People act like guys from some 10 years ago were all bar brawlers or just knew BJJ.

This. Chuck had the title right up until what, 2007? The gap of MMA evolution from 2007 to 2014 is so minuscule that it's almost irrelevant.

The game has barely if at all evolved, all this 'evolution' is much more about point-fight better on the Unified System

Chuck's prime skills would match up pretty well with almost everyone in the division

I would still say he'd lose to Jones and he could potentially be outpointed by a few fighters with the right gameplan. But you give prime Chuck 5 rounds and there's a decent chance he'd knock anyone from the top5 out.
