Some with Tony, but at least they fed Tony to someone they liked.

Does the UFC even care about Bruno Silva? Dude is 1-4 in his last 5.
Well I mean than in theory they are evenly matched I guess the difference would be how they looked in the fights.

Oof Silva can crack and can be a pretty vicious dude on the feet. Can’t say I love this for teh Chris

The Chris should have a shot at winning the first round and subbing him but I just see him getting tko’d in the 2nd or 3rd. He has way too many injuries and is nearly 40.

They need to bring back Sam Alvey or someone similar to see a competitive fight.

there's no way they should be giving him fights at this point. we saw what we needed to see last time out.

Silva hits harder then Tavares and won’t hold back like Tavares did

This is horrendous matchmaking

This is like Edgar’s farewell fight all over again - so uncalled for

Bruno is a bit limited but I like his style. He'll be too hard hitting for Weidman. I think the Chris better retire after this one, win or lose.

Love Chris but he is donezo. He just doesn't have it anymore.

maybe if Chris can get the fight to the ground, he can win this fight.

I don’t like the odds of that though.

Silva should win. But he has a tendency to occasionally shit the bed and is tremendously vulnerable to being submitted if he gets caught out on the mat. Seriously, the guy has been subbed 7 times in his career. Weidman's athleticism has taken a nosedive with his age and injuries and as a result his offensive wrestling and striking aren't what they used to be... but I still think his top game is good enough to potentially catch Bruno with something if he takes him down or drops him.

It's also worth noting that Silva hasn't looked quite the same since the war with Poatan. It's like he lost a step. He gets hurt more easily, his footwork isn't as slick, he's a bit more labored in his movements and when throwing his strikes. Considering Weidman was able to try and push the pace against Tavares even in a losing effort and tagged Brad a few times with big punches -- not to mention the fact that he presents at least a theoretical takedown threat... Chris has a legitimate path to victory if he meets Bruno in the center, mixes in level changes, cracks him, and gets him down somehow before submitting or at least controlling him.

That being said, Silva is very dangerous when he's on-point. He is far more aggressive and hits way harder than Tavares, who sorta let Chris off the hook in their fight. If he replicates Brad's gameplan by kicking Weidman's legs, but actually moves forward and tries to land with power punches as well it's his fight to lose. Admittedly, Bruno is historically not much of leg kicker -- but I suspect it's still a skill he possesses and I don't think you have to be Alex Pereira to hurt this version of Chris with low kicks.

As far as the grappling goes... While Bruno's defensive BJJ is questionable, his defensive wrestling is decent and he is usually pretty good at keeping his back off the mat and scrambling. Andrew Sanchez is the only person to really have success wrestling him, but that was years ago and Silva found a way to hang in there and win late. It's hard to get a read on where Weidman's overall wrestling game is at these days. He went 5 for 16 on takedowns against Akhmedov and gassed badly in the process, but to his credit he found his second wind to arguably score a 10-8 in the third round... but that was 3+ years and one life-altering leg injury ago. He had absolutely zero success wrestling Tavares, but to be fair Brad has some of the best TDD in the division. I suspect Chris might be able to get Bruno down once or twice early in the fight, but I have a hard time seeing him put on a high-level wrestling pace for 15 minutes while consistently scoring takedowns and holding Bruno down without getting hurt in the process. It's possible, but I don't think it's the most likely outcome.

I'll take Silva by KO/TKO in Rd 2, I guess.

Like I said before, just book Weidman and Ferguson both against Khamzat.

UFC has no problem booking squash matches for fighters they want to build... but jeez, they want Chris to die in the cage. Is there literally no CM Punk type regional guy they can sign for a retirement fight.

Hope our Boy wins so he'll sign for another 10 fights.
