Not sure why I find that funny. A main card fight on the PPV before, to an early fight pass prelim fight on the PPV right after.

Was UFC 309 just absolutely terrible in star power? Just banking on Jon Jones?

They dont trust they will make it to fight night anymore, dont want to give them any respectable spot like main card or feature prelim.

Honestly the prelims are stacked with name brand fighters.

Reyes, Smith, Luque, Evloev, Sterling... even Brown/Battle are veterans with a name.

Multiple former title challengers and a former world champion fighting an undefeated opponent on the prelims. Guida, Hooper and Chiesa all on the early prelims.

You get bumped to this card as a 40 year old Weidman, you aren't making the PPV.

This was my exact thoughts, 310 has solid prelims to put Weidman in there, ironically, minus the main event the card is pretty solid, i mean, it technically wouldnt change anything, but co-main should had been the main event for the interim belt, they owed Rakhmonov a title fight.
