News Chris Weidman Officially Retires

LOL

Someone who goes 9-0, wins the title beating Silva twice, and fucking up mostly everyone who he fought does not make you a journeyman.

He is far from the MW GOAT, but to say he is a journeyman is insulting and typical internet bullshit.

I am a firm believer that Weidman pre Rockhold was one of the best to ever do it. One fight can change you forever

Forever immortalized on July 6th, 2013. Enjoy retirement Teh Chris. Still my boy!

Fuck off right off blankablanka

For all those saying "GFL": Weidman's retiring, but there's no indication he was released. Retiring means the UFC doesn't have to offer him fights anymore but it doesn't free him up to sign with another fight organization unless the UFC releases him (or his contract is up, but a retirement announcement when his contract is up and he's looking to sign elsewhere would be rather strange).

Did no one realize he didn’t say he was retiring? It sounds more like he’s leaving the UFC but not combat sports.

BKFC incoming.

They dont do career congrats if they are not retiring. They dont even say bye.

Not to say he wont un-retire, but this says congrats on his CAREER.

Bra listen to what he said:

I’m hanging up the gloves “in the UFC”, I’m no longer going to be fighting for the “organization”.

Nowhere in his statements did it sound like he was retiring from MMA.

his last 11 matches 8 losses, Weidman won the title, but his biggest challenge was to overcome his own ego to throw in the towel.

Yes but UFC don't say Congrats on a career if you just leave. They just open the door and boot your ass on out

Unless they don't count bkfc as MMA in the same way. But that paints a horse of a different color.

after reading @koa pomaikai 's post, I listened to the OP clip, sounds like he's not gotten there yet. Sounds like he's going to fight more elsewhere, or maybe box Jake Paul lol
