Weidman would still beat guys on the level of old fart Vitor and Machida if we let him. What happened was he started fighting truly elite competition.

Rockhold, Romero, Moose, Jacare. These guys are all head and shoulders above his competition prior to that run.

Weidman is still up there, just below the level of the guys you mentioned. Souza and Romero can get old real fast since they are the elders in the division and if Weidman can improve a few thing, he has a decent chance at the title. Still wish Moose was in the mix, damn the UFC for being cheapskates.

Weidman is probably the man with the worst luck on the planet. He was doing good against Romero when all the sudden that knee... oh, that knee! He was holding his own vs Mousasi (or even was ahead on the score cards) when was... kneed again. Against Souza- I think he was clearly wining (despite of the fact that his opponent was busy, too). This guy needs a little bit more luck mainly.
