I never liked Chris Farley, for the same reason I dislike a lot of Will Ferrell's stuff - the two of them could be funny at times, but when they got loud and obnoxious it just went off the rails for me. I think the most talented comics are the ones who could make you laugh with the least effort. Harpo Marx never spoke a single word and he has me in stitches.

But that's just me.

They both seem like poor attempts at John Candy to me.

What the fuck? This is about as dumb as the post in thread about Bill Burr that said Burr was "a poor man's Louis CK". There's no basis to even make a comparison.

I think Spade is criminally underrated. Sandler and Farley get most of the love from that SNL cast but Spade always killed me with his Hollywood Minute, Joe Dirt/Joe Dirt 2 and his standup.

From that cast I love Norm the most followed by Spade.
He is really underrated, I've always liked Spade as well, those 2 were perfect together and you could see that in Tommy Boy.

Here's some clips of Spade talking about Farley

The right answer is Belushi. Most of Farley's career, he was trying to emulate Belushi, his idol. In this case, with all due respect to Farley, you can't beat the original.

I think the difference is that Ferrell is acting when he starts using a lot of energy, you can see in Farleys interviews and such that he really is just that energetic.

Yeah I liked all of Farley's movies even Beverly Hills Ninja (He was so disappointed in that movie he thought it ruined his career) and Almost Heroes but Blues Brothers and Animal House are iconic. Can't ay the same thing for Farley's roles. I guess you could argue Tommy Boy is.

Farley was disappointed in Beverly Hills Ninja? I love that movie, it's one of my favourites.

"Nice jacket, who shot the couch!?"

According to Bernie Brillstein, Chris Farley was so disappointed in this film that he cried on Brillstein's shoulder after the first screening.

According to an A&E biography, Chris Farley hated the film upon seeing it for the very first time and told his agent that he never wanted to do such a film again. Farley's stance was justified as it arguably attributed to the exploitation of his manic, physical humor by dumbing it down and playing it out to an almost tiring and foolish degree.

Belushi, but they were both over-rated, IMO.
