International Chinese Naval Power

Im in NY.

Imagine im doing a bombing run on you with a 5th generation fighter that can operate at upwards of 50,000 feet. Amount of drones needed to fill such an air space volume around Texas would be impossible.
That’s pretty much correct. The other thing is that the F35 is practically invisible so they’ll get no warning when it’s coming. The US still far outmatched anyone in the air.

The biggest difference that the onset of mass drones is making is it’s now giving other air forces some offensive capabilities when they previously had none. It really hasn’t effected the US ability to strike

No the altitude would completely make drones useless. Jets like the F-35 have a service celling above 40,000 feet.

i was gonna say this, and you also have the problem of finding an keeping a constant track of the said Stealth fighter.

also Chinese stealth technology is pretty horrid

How about against helicopters?

How about against helicopters?

Has been done already with single drones in ukraine so possible

Biggest difference with drones now is close airspace to ground is now contested when it wasnt before

(Tanks are almost useless looking at ukraine, no one can bring any heavy tech to front line)

Recent story about a potrntial new smaller class of Chinese aircraft carrier. The author thinks it may represent a dual purpose vessel that can perform civilian functions but be converted to military functions. For example, a coastal patrol police vehicle one day but then turned into a drone launching carrier at a moment's notice.

Earlier this year we also saw China launch the Fujian aircraft carrier. It's a full size carrier for its fifth generation aircraft. So it makes sense to supplement that platform with smaller drone carriers.

I wonder how the West will react. The United States should be able to react with its own carriers and F35s fifth generation aircraft superiority, and ground based air defense. But the American military must overcome supply chain issues and delayed production of the Ford-class carriers. I think we can meet these challenges but we have to be focused on our strategy. We can't be distracted with political theater like Tubberville holding up the command chain or wasting our time and money on dead end projects like the Littoral Combat Ship or not ordering enough pants for the Navy uniform.

You mean the Type 076? its not exactly efficient, why would you do that when you have no VTOL and you could instead make a carrier
?

Tanks are almost useless
I don’t think that’s the take away. If they were useless both sides wouldn’t be using them anymore. Instead, they’re trying to get their hands on as many replacements as they can. They’re more vulnerable than they’ve ever been. That much is clear

They’re a new threat to helicopters that they have to deal with. They haven’t made them obsolete yet. It’s likely that we would use our helicopters more conservatively now.
Yeah maybe thinking against jets was wrong but other aircraft big time. Though, if you could swarm them near the airbases that could cause a problem.

I said almost because they are using them as sort of fixed cannons to fire from distance

Any type of assaulting with them is basically gone and will get worse in future (with A.I you can basically make hunter killer drones that hide on rooftops or in holes and fly out on tanks when they sense they are near basically flying AT mine, this from our military)

No it has a different profile than the type 76.

"But the vessel is even smaller than the Type 075 amphibious assault ships used by Beijing’s navy, suggesting that China may be building the world’s first “ostensibly civilian ‘aircraft carrier’ as an oceanographic research vessel of some sort,”

what ship? model number?

the differance here is they keep cranking out ships that all of differant make an model an with zero standardization

i suspect they're the just building ships to build ships.

Shit! Now we get to pantless US Sailors in the Pacific?

this is how you know they have zero experience or understanding of naval combat.

Are they just building everything to say "hell ya"

Look at the bright side.

If you were on a Littoral Combat Ship, you would never make it across the Pacific. You probably won't even leave dock, so no need for that uniform.

The fact this received no likes is a travesty.

they have no VTOLs and at this point theyre building just to build..
