Anyone notice that products made in China have been rapidly improving the last decade or so? Reminds when Japan was coming out WW2 and they made crap products back then, now they make among the highest quality goods. Same thing happened with South Korea with companies like Samsung and LG.

I think China is next up on the line.

China is home to so many factories that to talk about the quality of stuff made there as a whole doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The people that are complaining about low quality made in China are the same people worshipping their beloved iPhone and other apple products.

They’ve been cranking out some pretty good quality stuff for the motorsports industry for the last decade or so.

You can get forged H beam connecting rods made from pretty good steel for $75/ea that will hold 200 hp per cylinder+. (The final machining is still done in the US though)

You can get polished, tig welded 304 stainless headers for $100/pair (wholesale) that fit decent and make great power, while just the raw materials here stateside will cost you close to double that.

The deeper thinkers amongst us are still conflicted on the matter though. On one side it’s nice to get cheap stuff that works well, on the flip side it sucks to admit that the reason it’s cheap is because Chinese workers are paid shit wages to work in often treacherous conditions, and there is zero concern for the environment that we all ultimately share.

Thread is 15 yrs too late.

THe moment I realized I could get a Chinese dial indicator that was good to 1/10th of a thou rather than Japanese (never mind Swiss) for $100, I realized that they can make quality stuff as well.

I've ordered hundreds of items from Amazon. Random stuff and they're almost all made in China. The quality has been pretty good on average and I'm betting that the quality will improve even more over time. They'll catch up to Japan and South Korean soon enough. Their main problem has been QC for awhile now, but they're taking steps on improving that.

Poeple have been saying that since early 2000. Tried out some electronics and nah. They are still shitty in terms of build quality.

If you go to a dentist for a crown or implant there's a good chance the impression(mold) of your chomps is being sent to China. Creating crowns, dentures, or implants is for skilled and highly detailed professionals who demand a lot of money. China pumps out good dental products for cheap.

Having strict deadlines to beat have them leaping, sure.

Products and probably military equipment and weapons too.

Congrats 1st world on financing the trial and error/ R&D of the Chinese.
You've literally built up what will (or already has) become your largest threat.

I blame our governments as they were either too short sighted or greedy (more likely) to see this coming.
Allowing all the Chinese junk products in and allowing companies to go over there so the Chinese could steal technology, etc.

Great job! If only I weren't so cynical as to believe it was all done by design.

They make a lot of chinese babies, quality varies from batch to batch.

They should be able to make better shit after all the corporate hacking stealing trade secrets. That won't do much good though if they are corrupt and use inferior materials to cut costs.

Go buy a Chinese car then. I dare ya
