Media Chimaev's coach believes the UFC will make a MW title fight next, then decide about super fight

I don't care who gets the next title shot as long as we don't have to wait 6+ months to see it. Get going by October!

I'm more interested in seeing Khamzat vs Pereira/Ank/Islam/JDM/Shavkat than anybody at MW

No superfight, zero title defenses, if he can have 15+ title defenses then we can call it a "superfight", none of these fights are so called superfights when they haven't even reigned lol. Flash in the pan the lot of em

A fight like GSP vs Anderson if it had happened would have been a superfight, both with tons of title defenses and long reigns, all these new flash in the pans of today have done next to nothing, no substance.

Historically, that's never been true. In fact, after multiple defenses, fans start getting bored.

And yet in the end, people revere streaks like those held by Anderson and GSP far more than a career like Cejudo's.

Isn’t it great that all these guys come in, win a boring title fight, and then immediately want to move up?

2 division champion GSP and a champion who got run out of his own division for being boring. You're making the point for me.

Really, after one defence, Sherdog will be outraged, right ?

I don't agree with it, but sherdog (mostly) and the UFC were fine with Topuria doing it and that changed the rules... <WhatItIs>

Funny how Khamzat constantly gets shit for this while people still clamor for Shavkat to get that titleshot and this dude never gets flak as for inactivity, even though he entered the UFC the same year as Khamzat and has 2 less fights lol

I hope Khamzat stays at MW and gets some title defenses but won't be surprised if he gets a defense or 2 then talks about LHW, especially if the style matchup is a good one.

Being a champion is becoming meaningless. It's barely about continuously being the best in the division through defenses and is all about riding the wave of a one time achievement and using it as leverage.

It's treated like a regional promotion championship. You win and then usually you leave for a bigger organization. In this case these guys win the title and then want to move on to other weights or super fight opportunities.

Another problem with the idea of a super fight is that it has to be built up through tenure of the division in the first place. GSP/Silva and Silva/Jones were big ideas not because they were some random 0 or 1 defense champs but because they were long reigning and GOATs of their divisions. Modern day "super fights" are cheap.
